Long term (3+ years) viability of Tourx when the PSA Groupe sale

do you mind if I ask why you wouldn't wait and buy in month 47?

It's not 84 months/100K from when you purchase the plan. It's back dated to when the vehicle was purchased. The longer you wait and the older the car gets, the more expensive the protection plan costs.

. I have a Buick Protection Plan quotes for $1,800 for 84 months and 100k miles

Banto, what is the deductible @ this cost?

If you buy in first 12 month or 12,000 miles (which ever comes first), you get the new car pricing and an effective date and mileage of the day you buy it. If you buy after 12 months or 12,000 miles, then you paid used car pricing which is way higher, some plans aren’t available, and some go back to original in-service date/miles.

Nope, not if you buy before 12 months and 12,000 miles. I did it twice with GMPP plans and confirmed I can do the same with Buick aprotection Plans.

That price is with $100 deductible.

I thought it was only around 90 days before increased pricing. Interesting. Thanks for the info. I'll use that for my next car.

I got GM's MajorGuard for $1400 for 84 month/100K miles ($0 deductible) at time of purchase - but I'm pretty sure dealer was not happy about that one.

That's not correct. Last year I bought my wife's 2014 Regal used and the service plan is for 84 months/100,000 miles from the time I purchased the plan. It's not back dated to the time when it was purchased new. If it was there would only be 3 years/30,000 miles left on it. The expiration date for the plan is 2025 since I bought it in 2018.

If it is correct the GM plan seems like a ripoff. Your car is covered 7yrs/100K but you get a 4yrs/50K warranty free from GM. So you paid $1400 for 3 yrs/50K additional coverage and I paid $1900 for 7yrs/100K coverage from the time I bought the car.

I have a bumper to bumper premium plan, it doesn't just cover the powertrain. For $500 more I got twice the coverage, plus it's during a time period when things start to wear out on a car.

@BoostedRegal2.0 Yes, thank you. I've already acknowledged my inaccuracy.

Your inaccuracy is that the plan covers more than the powertrain.

What extended warranty company did you choose and what is your deductible? This way, we all can continue to learn from this forum.

It's called the Fly-by-Night Car Warranty Company, headquartered in downtown Lagos, Nigeria. Very dependable, I am sure. They are wonderful at accepting your premium checks. As for pay-outs, that is quite another thing.

Hmmm the clown who knows nothing about cars or tires speaks again, and he is wrong again which doesn't surprise me. LOL

As I said, I have a bumper to bumper premium plan that doesn't just cover the powertrain. The delectable is $100 per visit, so if they repair 2 or more problems it still cost me $100 that day. The company is Advantage and every time we have used it they covered the repair.

Did you purchase the plan thru a dealer or independently?
I've always been wary of of extended warranty plans that aren't manufacturer sponsored. Then again, I've also had some challenges with getting Hyundai and Kia to to make good on standard new vehicle warranty situations.

I got it through the dealer when I purchased the car. That way we can roll it into the payment instead of trying to come up with money some way else.

Can you kindly share a link to the Advantage web-page?
I may have some interest if the numbers make sense.

Thanks for your helpful response.
Yes, I did google it before asking. Returned all kinds of sites with some form of Advantage in the titles.
I was hoping you could assist with a direct shot to the source so I could be sure I was communicating with the same folks you are using.

Maybe they don't have a website. I'm at work so I don't have access to the paperwork. I'll look for the info tonite when I get home.

If they sold it for a dollar more than they pay GM, they should be happy. If they sold it for less then they paid, they're idiots. Car dealers aren't in the business of losing money selling stuff in the finance office[1], so I'm sure they made a bundle on it.

[1] Most dealers make most of their car sales money in the F&I office, not on the sale of the car.

I think it is this company Extended Auto Warranty Coverage | Auto Warranties | Auto Advantage Inc.

He quoted me $2657 for 7 years 100,000 miles from the day you buy the plan, which is a generous time. He gets good BBB ratings. However I emailed him to ask if it is okay to wait until my warranty is about to expire, a year from now, and he refuses to respond to my question. Sort of a red flag because of that.

yep, that was the first hit. Haven't got a quote back yet.

Also tried this link, was recommended on Angies List: Advantage Warranty Corp
Problem here is that clicking on the "get a free quote" link redirected me to another site named CarShield. same deal here, made the request early this morning and haven't heard back.

Get the feeling that most of these warranty sites are third person operations that act as a broker to connect you with a service provider that pays them the most in commission.

Will wait to hear back from boosted regal.

Yes that's the extended warranty company I have. I'm sure he wants you buy the plan now and not a year later so that's why he didnt reply. More than likely the cost will increase if you wait a year because of inflation though.
