handsfree liftgate hard to open?

I usually play a Broadway show tune in my head, act like I’m one of the Rockettes, and by the time the chorus starts and my leg is back to it’s starting position, my liftgate is up. Of course, my neighbors wonder why I’m still dancing at this point, so I tell them it’s just because I love the car so much.

I ended up calling Buick, they say by the built specs of my VIN, I have it. In reality - I have a settings in my infotament screen, but looks like no hardware in the bumper...... Don't know what to do with it)

Dumb question: is there a circular rotary switch on the drivers door near the footwell? That needs to be turned on for the gate to work.

Sure it's there. And I can open and close it from the fob. But nothing in the bumper.

So, no Buick logo projecting from under the rear bumper?

Nope, I don't see how it would project anything, bumper has no holes in it. That's what confuses me. Looks like they either forgot to put hardware and/or forgot to cut the holes in the bumper.

If the car is supposed to have the feature, it is a warranty problem that it doesn’t.

Make your dealer fix it. If they won’t, get the response in writing, and ask Buick what they are going to do to fix it.

This is my plan. I have an appointment on Monday for the control arms, I'll let them look at it too. As Buick USA person told me over the phone that my car was built with this feature. Service adviser from the dealership told me that, most likely they forgot to disable it in the screen and car doesn't have this feature.
I'll definitely get it in writing, if that's the case.

Looks like the option code is TC2. (From a simply google search)
If you can locate your vehicle's RPO list on the car itself, try and see if it is listed in there.

Any outside chance you car’s rear bumper was damaged or replaced before you bought the car and they install the wrong replacement bumper assembly ? It’s a long shot but knowing how new cars are processed while being shipped, stored and delivered anything is possible.

I was thinking the same, because I've purchased it with 7k miles( car was a dealership runner). It had a clean carfax, but it doesn't mean anything.

So, TC2 is there.

I have all that.
However, this is how my bumper looks like.

Yep, looks like a trip to the dealer for you! I wonder if the projector is even installed on your car. If you crawl under a bit and look behind the bumper, you should see this:

Anybody know what this thing (below) on the left is? (Marked as letter A). It's located about a foot away from the projector and has its own hole in the bumper. When I kick under that hole, the liftgate inconsistently opens. If it's a kick sensor, why does the liftgate work more consistently when kicked in the middle (and Buick tells you to kick the projection)? I'm also curious as to why when I was testing today, one time I kicked this area the liftgate opened AND the security alarm went off!

What is the thing marked B with the screw sticking out? It's built into the projector unit and lines up with hole B.

Can one of these be a proximity sensor which delays liftgate opening (at times)?

Thanks for the pictures mate. I have a good news, projector is there. So you have 3 holes all together in the bumper?
To answer your question, it is probably an ultrasonic proximity sensor.

Damn. Must have been built during Oktoberfest!
Looks like the assembly workers got the wrong bumper without the hole. 😩
In other words, a warranty claim.
To make things better , everything seems to be functional, just the holes are missing. 20191114_123446.webp
I've looked at parts, looks like this body panel is the same for all trims. Are they drilling holes afterword?

Probably for replacement parts. I doubt the factory does.
