hey i was just wondering if there was a way to have the car beep to me when i lock it. i think i might have ocd when it comes to locking my car ha ha whenever i go to bed i always lock it, and whenever i get home i lock it once i put the keys down (afraid of pushing the unlock button) although i have good reason. my mom left her neon open and somone stole a $200 stereo out of it.

anyway, it would be cool not having to look out the window for the headlights everytime i lock it.

i was thinking it would be somthing wierd like you do to disable the twilight lights after you shut off the car (lights on/off/on then lock or unlock then the car beeps)

thanks alot!!

It might be possible. Only way I can think of doing it, or checking if it can be done, is with a GM Tech 2 scan tool. You can enter the body controls and and change the options for the key fobs on a ton of GM vehicles, your's may be one of those.

What year is your car again? How far are you from Glendale Heights?

i drive a 2002 and pretty far, im an hour from chicago with normal traffic. google maps says 45 mins though. im in hobart indiana about 3/4 mile from gary

Alright, just thinking out loud. I'll do some looking tomorrow to see if your car has the different program options for the remotes, I'm pretty sure it does though.

You car does have that option. Push lock once to lock the doors, then press lock again. After the second push of the button, the horn should chirp.

Lock All Doors
Press the LOCK button in order to perform the following functions:

• Lock all of the doors.

• Immediately turn off the interior lamps.

• Chirp the horn, if the LOCK button is pressed a second time within 5 seconds.

actually that doesnt work because i always pushed it twice anyway (ocd i guess ha ha) i went out there and found the manual (in the 10 degrees ha ha) and found out in section 2 it tells you how to do it. there is 4 settings

1. do nothing just lock

2. just honk

3. just the lights flash (from the factory)

4. honk and lights flash.

what you do is set it to run, and hold down the lock button on the door.
while holding the lock button, push lock on the clicker. if factory set the car will chime 3 times to say its on setting 3. if you push lock on the remote again (while never letting go of the door lock) it will chime 4 times to say its on setting 4. then let go of all lock buttons and test it out. worked 1st time for me.

things with this car are wierd. for instance the only way you can shut off all the lights (not just the headlights) at night is to set the parking brake before you start the car.

and to turn off the twilight headlights you need to
1 hold lock>(headlight switch) on/off/on/off/on/off
it will chime to tell you its been done. then you do the same thing to reverse it.

i dont understand why there isnt a damn off switch for all the lights.

i can understand the beep thing though.

I tried how u described and chime didnt sound 3 times at all.

I followed all the steps in the manual as well but it won't go into program mode at all, I believe its because I have an aftermarket head unit though.

Yup, probably it. I got mine to work programming through the dic but the chirp when locking and unlocking is so dull and quiet. I think thats normal on these cars.

I'm looking to put a magnaflow muffler on it for some sound. Have u had any experience with aftermarket mufflers on these 3800s? I want something that will give it a nice little low rumble. Nothing ricegrinder sounding though..

My horn wont chirp when i press the lock button i have a 2002 buick park avenue

Hi. I'm a little late with my reply, but here it goes.

2002 Lesabre Custom/limited drivers manual Pages 2-13 2-14:
Security Feedback
Mode 1: No feedback when locking or unlocking vehicle

Mode 2: park lamps, back-up lamps and DRL exterior lamps will flash trice when unlocking the vehicle and flash once when locking the vehicle.

Mode 3: Horn chirps when all doors are unlocked (second time the button is pressed) and when locking the vehicle.

Mode 4: Parking lamps, back-up lamps and DRL exterior lamps will flash twice each time the button with the unlock symbol is pressed: the horn chirps when all doors are unlocked. Parking lamps and DRL exterior lamps flash once and the horn chirps when locking the vehicle.

If your vehicle is not equipped with the DIC, do the following to change to another mode:

1. Close all the doors and turn the ignition on.

2. Press and hold LOCK on the driver's power door lock switch throughout this procedure. All the doors will lock

3. Press the trunk button on the transmitter.
The security feedback will remain in its current mode. The horn will chirp as feedback.

4. press the trunk button again. Each time the trunk button is pressed, the security feedback will advance to the next mode, and the horn will chirp.

5. Release the power door lock switch. The security feedback will remain in the most current mode selected.

(page 2-14)

This procedure only changes the mode for the transmitter used to change this setting. The procedure will need to be repeated for the second transmitter.

To verify the mode selected, remove the key from the ignition and close all of the doors after you've exited the vehicle and confirm the appropriate feedback. Repeat with the unlock button.

Hope this helps. it worked on my 2002 Lesabre custom (without DIC)
