How do I get into the trunk with a disconnected battery and closed trunk lid?

I have a 2017 Buick LaCrosse parked for the winter. The trunk battery was disconnected and I closed the trunk without thinking. No battery power means no working key fob. Can I get into the trunk by way of the back seat to open the trunk lid to reconnect the battery?

Dont all trunk locks have an emergency cord to open from the inside?

Lol, put your rear seat backs down and pull trunk rip cord...... Does the trunk have its own battery?; I’ve put my Boss 302 up every winter since ‘12 but keep trickle charger on battery. Used to start and run every few weeks but too many dry starts involved; not truly warming up motor or liquids. Don’t forget Stabil in the fuel tank; have had portions of the past years gas mixed with new fuel each year and never a problem. Same with generator in garage even more so.

Newer cars aren't as simple as older ones. I would absolutely not unplug the battery for any serious length of time in a newer car as the electronics could "forget" important information which could mean an expensive trip to the dealer. I don't care if I have to reprogram radio stations but things are more complicated than that now.

If you can access the hood release then you can use the remote power attach points to connect another battery for temporary power.

I asked buick how to get in the trunk with a dead battery shortly after buying my first buick that didn't have a key slot to open the trunk. I was told to fold down the back seat, crawl into the trunk and pull the emergency release handle. Obviously nobody working in buick design ever had a dead battery...

I am trying to figure out what is the major issue people are complaining about here? So your battery dies... What is in the trunk that's so important that you have to get to right now, before you go buy a replacement battery for the car? Bought some milk from the market that's going bad? Are your tools in the trunk and you can't change the battery unless you have them? WTF? I would rather climb through the back seat and pull the emergency realise cord before I want a key lock cylinder on the back of my car like it's 1987 all over again. I could see if you couldn't get into the car period, but the trunk? Who the frick cares?

Lmao, was going to use mine for a man cave. Great place to curl up in... never find you with no way to open trunk. Leave unlatched or tie rope extension to glow in dark safety release- pull it from driver seat.🥱

Only thing I can possibly think of is place to store loaded weapons or if cold, makes perfect freezer through winter months.❄

Battery charger in trunk maybe and question was about getting going and not storing car with dead battery and ongoing access to trunk?

On a 2017 LaCrosse getting into the trunk to access a dead or disconnected battery is more complicated than you guys think.

The battery for a 2017 is in the trunk not in the engine compartment, and TTT says he has it disconnected.

There is no easy way to open the trunk lid from outside without power.

On a 2017 the fold down seat backs are released only from inside the trunk not from inside the car like the earlier models.

There is a manual emergency trunk release inside the trunk but you cant get to it unless you are already in the trunk.

The only solution I see is to use the manual key to get in the car if it is locked, then open the hood and connect a good battery to the remote terminals in the engine compartment (as 1arnold1 suggested) to enable opening the trunk. Connect the battery that is in the trunk to start the car or jump start it if the battery is dead.

I'm curious if TTT solved his problem in a different way.

The Battery is in the TRUNK!!!

If you turn on your ignition, you can use a starter boot in the cigar lighter. I don't know why I didn't think of this. (See prior post).

The problem with a 2017 Buick LaCrosse is that the car battery is in the trunk. When the battery is dead, you have to get in there to change it. Now how do you open the truck?

Do the rear seats fold flat, exposing the trunk? Or is there a pass-thru in the rear arm rest? Or can you remove the rear seat backs?
