Hey everyone,

yes i know fortin makes a plug & play remote start version that is cheaper and takes minimal effort to install,

but did anyone try to install the original GM remote start after purchase?

The part number is 39148995 But i can't find any details about it anywhere, Like what comes with the pack? how is it installed? etc.

Would be great if any GM Techs can chime in.

Its sold for approx 240. (compared to the fortin one for 100-140) but the nice thing about the GM is that the dealer can't say anything if there are any warranty issue

I went a similar route with my wife's truck. Part cost was about the same but it was around $100 for labor and $100 more to program the BCM. At least for this dealer they don't do the install they had a vendor that did it for them and it was something weird like every other Tuesday. I was told the company goes from dealer to dealer to do installs. Not sure if Buick does something similar or not but you may want to ask. I opted not to do the install myself for two reasons even though it was an easy plug and play. First it was cold out and I was worried about plastic tabs on panels breaking. Second, I was told that if I did the install the programming would be at least $150 and if something didn't work because of a bad part I still get charged, then get charged again when new part comes. So savings in that case wasn't worth the effort and potentially could cost more.

With my 11 T07 I sent my BCM off to white auto here in Michigan. All I had to do was order keys with the remote start button and flowe the procedure to add an additional remote. $300 for the programming and $65 at the dealership for a brake relearn procedure. The process took less than a week and it functions like factory. The heated seats even come on.

I took apart the original key fob and installed the key in the new fob. Also I found a place here that makes laser cut keys and got one made. My car only came with one key so now I have two.

I do not think those are the correct keys for the current gen Regal.

I understand that. Just wanted to post an example of what I had to do with my older gen without remote start and with. Maybe it would be similar with the current gen key fobs.
