Hey all, I have a 1992 Buick Lesabre Limited Edition. For the most part, it has been well maintained.

Right now, when I start the car, the oil pressure gauge reads nominal. Once the engine warms up (its winter and cold here, so after 10 minutes), The gauge starts to jump when I accelerate. It becomes very touchy. Any engine vibration seems to make it move slightly. Then after a minute or so of this, the gauge starts to go past the maximum any time I accelerate even just a little bit. Sometimes when I push down the peddle down more, the gauge dips below the maximum, still in the high KPa.

I had the oil changed about 2 months ago, and this problem started less than a week ago. Does this sound like a faulty gauge? I have checked around different forums and have not found a single case similar to this.

Suggestions much appreciated!

Common problem, I would suggest replacing the oil sending unit and check the wiring connection for damage. If that does not help it could be a faulty gauge (stepper motor).

Well at the very least, I'm very relieved to hear this!
Gonna replace the sending unit and take it from there.

Thanks!
