As the head line reads! There is a CONFIRMED lowering spring for us with a GS AWD!! YAY!!! I just got the install done today and every thing fit perfect! As far as I know.. (feel free to correct me anyone) this makes me the 3rd or 4th person to successfully lower a AWD GS!
How to order? Ebay! They ship straight from H&R in Germany!
Price? Should be either just under or just over $300. I paid $310 at the time two or so months ago and just looked before making this post and I’m seeing them for $297 shipped! I’m not going to provide a link. H&R is constantly removing the listing and updating the price so me providing a link that’s just going to be “broken” in a month or less is pointless. Again the part number is H&R 28998-3
How much lower did it make it? I have no idea as I type this. Just got the job done. Will update later. It’s going to take a good week or so for the springs to fully settle with the new spring insulators.. H&R specs are 20-30mm drop
Was it hard? Not really but like many of the people that have lowered FWD Regals have said. It’s always a great help to have a good friend that knows what he’s doing also. Really it does help. The front end especially the assembly is pretty heavy if you just undo the lower control arms from the frame. Which was the best way we found to do it.
Parts need? I highly suggest replacing the spring insulators (rubber the spring sits on) they really should always be replaced unless the car is very new still and has very low miles. Like under 30k low and even that’s kinda stretching it. It’s more how old the car is more than any thing. They are rubber and do dry out and crack or even swell. The part numbers for the front struts are the same as the FWD which is nice! The rear is not the same. It’s actually the same part number as the LaCrosse rear end. Then be prepared to get a alignment done in a week or two at the longest. The springs need to settle first
Insulator part numbers are
Front upper: GM22871864 (same as FWD)
Front lower: GM22864841 (same as FWD)
Rear upper: GM13322645 (same as LaCrosse)
Rear lower: GM13322648 (same as LaCrosse)
Pics? Sorry I actually didn’t take many.. I did however take a pic of the stock ride hight from ground to middle of the arch in the fenders for both front and rear. Will show later for update on how much it settled and the outcome of the drop. Lots of FWD people have cut a half coil out of the H&R FWD springs in the front because they for some reason make the front look higher than the rear. I did not cut the coils for the front so we’ll see how that plays out LOL!
