As the head line reads! There is a CONFIRMED lowering spring for us with a GS AWD!! YAY!!! I just got the install done today and every thing fit perfect! As far as I know.. (feel free to correct me anyone) this makes me the 3rd or 4th person to successfully lower a AWD GS!

How to order? Ebay! They ship straight from H&R in Germany!

Price? Should be either just under or just over $300. I paid $310 at the time two or so months ago and just looked before making this post and I’m seeing them for $297 shipped! I’m not going to provide a link. H&R is constantly removing the listing and updating the price so me providing a link that’s just going to be “broken” in a month or less is pointless. Again the part number is H&R 28998-3

How much lower did it make it? I have no idea as I type this. Just got the job done. Will update later. It’s going to take a good week or so for the springs to fully settle with the new spring insulators.. H&R specs are 20-30mm drop

Was it hard? Not really but like many of the people that have lowered FWD Regals have said. It’s always a great help to have a good friend that knows what he’s doing also. Really it does help. The front end especially the assembly is pretty heavy if you just undo the lower control arms from the frame. Which was the best way we found to do it.

Parts need? I highly suggest replacing the spring insulators (rubber the spring sits on) they really should always be replaced unless the car is very new still and has very low miles. Like under 30k low and even that’s kinda stretching it. It’s more how old the car is more than any thing. They are rubber and do dry out and crack or even swell. The part numbers for the front struts are the same as the FWD which is nice! The rear is not the same. It’s actually the same part number as the LaCrosse rear end. Then be prepared to get a alignment done in a week or two at the longest. The springs need to settle first

Insulator part numbers are

Front upper: GM22871864 (same as FWD)
Front lower: GM22864841 (same as FWD)

Rear upper: GM13322645 (same as LaCrosse)
Rear lower: GM13322648 (same as LaCrosse)

Pics? Sorry I actually didn’t take many.. I did however take a pic of the stock ride hight from ground to middle of the arch in the fenders for both front and rear. Will show later for update on how much it settled and the outcome of the drop. Lots of FWD people have cut a half coil out of the H&R FWD springs in the front because they for some reason make the front look higher than the rear. I did not cut the coils for the front so we’ll see how that plays out LOL!

Went out and took a few measurements and pics this morning. This is the front passenger side in the pics. I thought I had a better measurement yesterday before I swapped the springs but as I was looking back at my pics today. I noticed I’m a idiot and it’s not quite straight and not quite the exact middle of the arch in the fender (mybad) that’s what I get for not double checking my pics lol but I noticed it and tried to get the same angle as you can see there’s little to no change as of right now. Still right around 28” and it maybe dropped a 1/8th if that so far. from the ground to the fender and I’m parked in the same spot in both pics.. We shall see in about a week how much it goes.

first pic is stock. Anything after that is with the springs installed

I did discover that so far checking all the conners the drivers side is already a half inch or so lower than the passenger side. I’m not sure if it was like that yesterday as I didn’t check but it’s the only side that’s showing a much different measurement. All the other conners are still just over 28” the driveway is pretty flat and smooth so I don’t really think it has to do with the ground and where I’m parked. Although overall the driveway does go slightly down hill.

The wheel gap looks better in your pictures, it should improve a little as things settle but you did replace the insulators. Going from the old and wore out to new on those may have negated some of the drop, until they are broken in.

Yeah it’ll take a while for things to settle. I also replaced the front struts. Car has a lot of miles on it so I figured that was a good time to replace those too. The rear shocks are new-ish also but those have been on for like two months already.

that is weird that the driver’s side is that much lower.

I thought it was odd to. But I did some google searching and found a lot of Mustang guys saying the same thing. Drivers side seems to sit lower at first for some odd reason. A lot of people say the rear end ends up lower making the front look higher with the H&R sport springs. The H&R Super Sport doesn’t seem to have that issue. Now either I miss something or H&R doesn’t even offer a “Super Sport” for the Insignia so as far as I can tell. I’m stuck with the “Sport” style and playing the waiting game on how it turns out... LOL!

Well... Thought I’d update the thread a bit for future references... Soooo bad news... Well sorta..

Update on ride Quality: Absolutely superb! Steering got tighter. Ride got a bit stiffer but not harsh. Pretty much no body roll and it feels like a better then brand new car over all! And yes GS mode got a crap load stiffer and the wheel is a ROCK. You think it was tight before in GS Mode? Mount these 28998-3 springs lol! Would probably work really well for someone that was interested in road course racing at a track to be honest.. Why?

Well that brings me to the “Well sorta bad” part... Unfortunately these didn’t lower the car pretty much at all. Maybe a half inch in the rear but the front pretty much has stayed the same. I’ve driven the car 400+ miles and it’s seen 2 full tanks of gas now and pretty much nothing happened to the ride hight... It took me a week to figure out where I went wrong.. There’s a lot to decipher when you try and figure out what the UK version of the Buick Regal GS with AWD exactly relates to in Vauxhall Insignia terms.. Yes it’s a VXR but not really.. It’s not a V6...Ok so Vauxhall does offer the VXR with the 2.0t ok.. l personally didn’t even know that till this week and that’s kinda where I think I may have went wrong.. In talking with some of the UK guys I found out that Vauxhall also offered two different types of suspension. One “standard” and one is the SRI spec and is lowered 30mm already from the factory... Now I’ve known already that there’s two different part numbers before I even ordered.. But one said it was only a 20-25mm drop and the part number is 28998-7 for the same 4WD.. So I figured well that’s not going to do a damn thing.... The other was 20-30mm with the part number 28998-3... Well that’s gotta be it.. Right? Idk how I missed it and idk why I just found out about the second type of suspension... But come to find out even more... The 28998-7 actually has two different part numbers in itself... The ass kicker is.. it’s still the same -7 but when you read the description it has a few extra letters.. those letters are “OPC MODELE”.... SON OF A 🤬..... Sooo in conclusion.. All 3 should fit. Now we just need two other people to buy them and fit them to figure out what looks the best on our AWD GS Regals... I’ve apparently already called dibs on the 28998-3 kit🤷‍♂️🙄🤦‍♂️

here’s a screen shot of all 3 the H&R part numbers are not in the pic but as fallows from the top down in the red box is

28998-7
28998-3
2899-7

Oh and btw.. my car is level... apparently evening having a smooth driveway gave me a half inch off on the drivers side.. didn’t think it would but I pulled the car into a nice Level concrete garage floor and that half in difference went away... I never said I was perfect 😂

Thanks for reminding me of my failure... Please you the search bar on the home page using any key words such as but not limited to. “Increasing boost levels” and or “how to get more power” to find the correct post to ask this question on.

I ordered the 28998-7 set today. I'm so excited! I will have to take before and after pictures. I'm curious as anyone how they fit the AWD Regals.
