Thanks for the mention 🙂

Would you be able to do something similar but instead of a cell phone it can hold a compact handgun?

That would be epic.

I saw the phone holder and the center console storage organizer on this forum and bought them. They are indeed very nice. They free up the large center cup holder for, well big cups or other stuff. I was using the Weather Tech cup phone holder as there are two forward cup holders. I like both of these options. Some pro's and some con's:

Pro:
  • this unit and the weather tech are well made
  • this unit is well priced. The weather tech is fairly priced but not the screaming deal this Esty unit is.
  • the unit discussed above has more flexibility of placement than the Weather Tech
  • the Weather tech is better if you use navi on the phone and need to see the screen. For example, if for some reason you don't want to use the Apple car play or the TomTom Navi on the car. I am sure no one texts and drives, that would be dangerous, I personally always use email when I drive - to be safe...
  • The console organizer is an excellent way to keep coins handy - there are probably coin toll booths in use somewhere. It is also a good place to keep the toll gizmo (or other shinny trinkets) out of sight when not in use, in case you live on one of our great metropoliten areas where you car get broken into in minuets if anything of perceived value is left in sight.
Con:
  • the Weather tech is a tight fit if you are using the Apple extended "smart" battery case this unit will not work if you are using the Apple smart battery case
  • the Weathertech works with the Mophie extended (presumably dumb) battery case i have not tested it with the Esty unit.
Both phone holders and the console organizer seem like excellent options for this vehicle.

Maybe this Esty person with the 3d printer can be perswaided to make the little holders that go in the pull slots in the door. I saw them on one of the (i think) European Opel sites as an accessory. Seemed like a good place to keep hand sanatizer and a mask these days or other stuff as we get back to more normalcy.

there's abt 1.5 inches left under the tray when it's resting inside the console. I also have low profile usb thumb drive that is in one of my two usb ports under/cramped by the tray.

looking at the pics 2,3,4 show the essence trim with charger like I have, photo 5 is a preferred/base console.

Hi, Etsy person here lol, Thanks for the feedback and purchase! I had thought about making the door slot inserts, but I actually just bought the ones off Ebay myself a while back, they were cheaper than I could make and sell them for honestly. If they are not available any longer though, then I can definitely take a shot at making some myself. Also I can make an XL version of the cell phone holder maybe if there is a need, with a larger opening for charging phone cases etc.

Is the tray resting on the usb drive or is there enough space so they don't touch?

I just went and took a pic to make sure I was accurate. I wasn't sure which of the two I had plugged into what so - The bottom of the tray just barely touches/rests on the SD card insert but does not touch or impede either of the usb ports.

Too bad my phone won't fit in the wireless charging slot even without the phone case on. and it wouldn't fit with the rubber insert removed and case off either... 🙁
