2018 Buick Regal TourX Pictures

4 years later, it’s amazing how nothing has changed. People love the looks except for the cladding, wished they had a GS version and sadly it’s now gone. Maybe I need to consider moving to Europe for retirement where manual trannies are preferred
You might get the manual tranny, but you’ll have to give up 70 HP too. I watched a video review of the Insignia and I couldn’t believe their only gas engine option has 180 HP.

If you’d prefer a Diesel engine they offer two different options. Those Europeans are serious about cutting carbon emissions. We Americans love our HP.

And I’m a rare person who would choose a manual over HP any day. But then there’s also a Manual with HP - I’d love to get a CTS-V Wagon or a Chevy SS with a stick. Someday…

Didn’t they make an ATS-V with a manual tranny? I’d love to have a CTS-V if money were no object. I know a guy who does custom tuning and he posts videos all the time. Talk about a bad ass machine!

I drove one around the Joliet Auo County Club (cadillac held a marketing event). That car is a beast, but it convinced me that I really didn’t want to own one as driving around a track is one thing, in traffic with other cars and pedestrians and potholes is just a recipe for disaster.

when the first ATS was release, you could get some variant with a stick. I think it was Cadillac’s ploy (just like my CTS) to be able to say “starting at $29,995”. They built them to get that starting price, but the dealership sold me my $33k MSRP car (with nicer wheels) for $23K new because nobody, absolutely nobody in Chicagoland wanted a stick shift. Sadly, it looks like manual trannies are disappearing except for muscle cars and econoboxes. It will become a lost art. My kids all know how to drive, and the two who are old enough to buy their own cars have manual transmissions (crosstrek, Tacoma). The youngest wants a Jeep Wrangler as it is one of the last SUVs with a manual. Hopefully Jeep never stops offering one for the folks who like off-roading.

Actually, the base ATS came with the rubbish 2.5L non-turbo.
On the other hand, that is the very reason why manual transmissions are nicknamed anti-theft device of the 21st century.

Maybe it was a later year then… I just recall it was tough to find one with a stick. It was possible, just touch.

They ditched that junk in model year 2017.
The stick was only available with RWD though. 😩

Sad...the only AWD vehicle with a stick that I can find is a Subaru (Impreza, Crosstrek, WRX). I don't count Jeeps as those are 4x4 (inherently different drivetrain). I guess Dodge might have a Challenger or Charger with AWD and a stick, but I haven't scoured their website to know for sure. I can't very well put much cargo into either Challenger or Charger anyway.

Edit: Nope. The Challenger with AWD comes with an auto. You have to pick the R/T or greater to have the option of a manual, and with that you only get RWD.
