Buick Ownership
2012 Buick Regal GS 6 speed manual
I purchased an OEM fob... and programmed using the owners manual.

Steps taken.
Put good fob in door lock , turned 5 times.
Placed the transmitter in the transmitter pocket.
Pressed the ignition button.
Remove the transmitter from the pocket, and press the unlock button.

The new fob now unlocks the car , unlocks the truck , locks all doors and trunks but I get no fob detected. And I know its not the battery because it'll unlock the car half way down my street.

Anyone have any thoughts I replaced the battery in it already and I'm out of idea's. I have no idea why it would program it to the car to lock , unlock , and arm the security system but not start the car.

Followed prompts and read owners manual to make sure I did the correct steps.

OK so I'm assuming you have push button start. If so, did you buy a keyfob that has that capability? Not all regals have push button start, some just use the physical key

OK so when do you get the 'no keyfob detected' message? I cant remember if the physical key itself has a small chip inside of it too

I can tell you from experience that the physical key does not have a small chip inside of it. I actually disassembled the original fob I got with the car and put it into a new key body, and then I used a punch and punched out the key blade and transferred that as well. Did this a few days ago because my fob buttons finally wore out to the point of "falling out".

If I take the new fob, walk up to the car, unlock it , and get into the car, when I press the start button. I get "no fob detected" despite using it to unlock the car.. and lock it... and all that jazz.

OK so I think there's still some miscommunication. I was not talking about remote start, I was talking about push button start (so you sit in the car with your key in your pocket or whatever and push the start button to start the car). That being said, if you just transferred the guts of your old keyfob to another new outer case, then I don't know why your car is no longer detecting the keyfob.

Maybe try programming the new one again?

We are talking about the same thing , my car doesn't have remote start. I have to sit in it with the key in my pocket to start it. My original key that I transferred the guts to , works good. Its only the new one that's doing everything it should... except let me start the car. Its the one that says no key fob detected when I try to start. I'll try programming it again and hope for the best. My only thought at this point is maybe the car has already had its maximum number of fobs programmed? ( if that's a a thing ) and I'm not sure how to "erase" those other keys to try again.

The instructions in the owners manual have two different conditions.
One where you have a functioning FOB and are adding an additional one.
The second you have no functioning FOB.
Which situation do you have and did you follow the appropriate instructions as shown on page 2-6 and 2-7?
