Hey all, new proud owner of a 04 lesabre at 64000 miles approx. I am currently quite happy with it, the only problem is the audio system leaves something to be desired. However, much like my father, I prefer the satisfying tactile *click* of traditional buttons and will not be upgrading to a newfangled touchscreen HU. What should I do to upgrade the audio quality without upgrading my head unit? How do I replace the speakers? I'm only nineteen by the way so I'm not that knowledgeable about these, please bear with me.

UP0 rpo?

what speaker count?

music preference?

For the first one im not quite sure, I took a picture of the included brochure where it listed audio, mine is the second option. I am not 100% sure but I believe I have 6 speakers. My music taste is all over the place. I don't really get into a specific genre or antthingPXL_20221125_014617555.webp

I'm of the opinion the original speakers are pretty poor in these cars. The fronts are each marked 4 ohms on each of them (full range in the lower door and probably tweeter in the upper). The rears are also a full range, but marked 8 ohms. I've checked numerous cars, seems odd.

I think it sounds much better with the aftermarket speakers (all 4 ohm, '2 and '3 way) all around.
There was no external amp option in these cars.

Got it. Any way I could get a diagram on how to disassemble to get to them? Also how much would I. Be looking at?

The front speakers are a pretty typical installation behind the door panels. I'm afraid the rears are the typical, asinine, rear package tray removal, because the speakers are mounted to the top side of the rear deck. Some might be able to chime in with the exact procedure.

Thanks for the help I'll wait around for that. Any brand / model recommendations?

SPID Label on your spare tire cover. but yours looks like it may be a UP0 based on description. the reason i ask is the UP0 has the best functionality

Thanks, I just bought a full JBL kit for all my speakers I can't wait!

I had some 5.25" mid woofers left over from a previous project. With judicious use of a dremel tool i got them to fit in the rear deck. I forget what I put in the front, and i didnt take pictures, but i modified the tweeter pods to fit my aftermarket tweeters. I was in the car today thinking the new speakers sounded pretty good listening to the factory stereo. One of these days I will replace the stereo.
