I have a critter making a nest in/on my cabin air filter, appears to be a mouse from looking at the droppings. Any idea how this pesky critter is getting inside the compartment that holds the cabin filter. I have changed the filter numerous times and its covered with nesting material ( some of it part of the filter) and poop.

Open the hood and look at the area near the base of the windshield which has the air intake.

That was one of the first things I did, no obvious entry points in the engine compartment. The first time I changed the cabin filter it was full of material from my 2015 RAM 1500 battery cover insulation. My truck sits next to my wife's car. I had a problem with a critter getting into my trucks air filter housing through the air intake to the filter, I put a screen in the intake tube to the air filter box, no more problems.

At one time the critter was getting into my trucks air filter box by way of the intake tube to the air filter box, I was able to fix that problem by putting a screen in the intake tube.
