I'm in need of some pro tips on how to replace the PCV valve on a 2013 LaCrosse Leather, 3.6L V6 VVT engine. The car is dropping the P0496 code and I've narrowed it down to a faulty PCV Valve. I've had trouble finding good information on how difficult it is to replace.

Thank you in advance.

It's a pain in the neck: it's located on the driver side/rear bank valve cover (closest to the firewall), tucked under hoses. What makes it difficult is that a lot of aftermarket valves are slightly larger in circumference than the OEM valve, so pulling them out/pushing them into the grommet is a nuisance.

No mention of PCV related to P0496

Thanks for the insights. I'll definitely look into that before ordering the part. If anyone wants to point me in the right direction for a new purge solenoid valve, I'd appreciate it. I found one at Advance, we'll see if this link works...

No mention of PCV related to P0496
Thanks for the info. That's quite a laundry list of possibilities. Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of confirming what the culprit is before I try to tackle replacing the purge solenoid valve?

2007LucerneCXL shared this on another thread to help with troubleshooting.

Wait...are you looking for info on a PCV valve or a purge solenoid valve?

As for parts, I usually shop www.rockauto.com
NDL, Upon further review, it seems like the most likely culprit is the purge solenoid valve. When I first started researching on Google and YouTube, a lot of posts were pointing me toward a PCV valve, but MelsRegal pointed me in the right direction, above in this thread.

Anyway, if you know anything about a PCV valve on a 2013 3.2L V6 VVT engine, I'd be glad to learn more about that too. The code I'm getting, starting last week, is P0496. And there could be another issue because I'm now also getting P0021 and P0011, which are related to camshaft position control. Again, the car is running just fine, except it is not starting easily the first time I try to start it right after putting gas in it. I haven't noticed any drivability problems but I need to clear this up. I'll check out RockAuto. Thanks for any further insights.

Yes it helped. I then searched further on YouTube for any videos for my 2013 LaCrosse 3.6L V6 and found this:

My 2010 Buick Lacrosse 3.6 CSX has the same issue. It would not start easily the first time starting after filling any amount of gas. I replaced the

Vapor Canister Purge Valve.

I no longer have that issue. I also noticed that my car has been consuming a fair amount of oil that has to be added. I currently trying to figure out this issue. I am getting codes P0420 and I think P2097 codes. Rough starting when cold. Any thoughts about this issue? I'm thinking I need an engine cleaning, replace spark plugs and coil packs since that has never been done any my car has about 140k miles. I also thought PCV purge valve need replaced. I ordered the part, but I can't find where it is located, if there even is one... I already also replaced the PCV tube and connection. I thought I'd see a PCV purge valve there, but there was none. Keep in mind, I'm NOT an auto mechanic so my knowledge is limited to what I already know. Also, I replaced both catalytic converters in the past 2 years which I believe was mis identified due the aforementioned issues. Thank you and let me know any thoughts
