I have a 2006 buick lucerne cx with the 3.8 litre engine.

I am starting to develop a fuel leak in both the intake and return lines at a certain section of the car.

It seems one of the plastic clips that holds the line in place has allowed over time salt, water and moisture to collect and rust/corrosion to form.

About 10 cm of the line is bad the rest is in good shape.

Can I cut out the bad section and use either:
1) Compression fittings to join a new section of line
2) Use a union to join a new section of line.
3) Cut out the bad section and flare both lines and clamp both sides with a rubber hose

Also would anyone know what size fuel line I would need to replace the bad section as I am not sure if the metal line is 3/8'' line or not on the lucerne.

Also I have included a picture of where the leak is occurring.

Any help is greatly appreciated in advance. Thank you.

The best way is to replace the entire line completely as it will continue to fail because of the rust. The gas and EVAP lines are available pre-bent in steel or stainless online from a couple of different sources.

You can just get away with 3/8 fuel hose and some clamps. That's what I did ...just cut out the bad part and replace it with the hose. No it's not the best way but it works

Thank you so much.

I was not aware that I could buy prefabricated lines for this car due to the age.

I will replace them with the factory lines.

Appreciate the help.

Thank you as well I did consider this as a temporary solution until I can get the lines I need.
