So while on vacation I was surfing AliExpress and saw this phone mount that is a Buick Regal specific mount and thought I would give it a try. https://m.aliexpress.com/item/4001173826859.html?spm=a2g0n.productlist.0.0.128e6ea18aRnqT With discounts it was 15 bucks shipped and surprisingly it only took a week to get here.

So I snapped a bunch of pics I thought might be useful of the unit before I installed it. As you can see it came in 3 pieces, one attached to the vent, the other is the ball stem then the phone cradle. The cradle can adjust from about 58mm to about 98mm wide. The clip has hooks that hold onto the vent and one that goes under the trim in front of the screen. One thing I didn't realize before I purchased was that the round carbon fiber circle can be removed to install "cologne" discs which they supply two of.

Installation is easy but I think I may get a little bit of double stick foam. It seems like the mount could slide side to side and become detached. I threw in an old cracked Samsung for pictures and you can still make out the edge of the home button. I was concerned it would be inaccessible but it is fine. The arms self adjust as you drop your phone in place. Haven't had the chance to road test it yet but it seemed the weight of the phone may help it stay in place.

Overall it seems like a good option and I like the placement since I often forget my phone when I leave since it is ina cup holder. This will be in my line of sight when I shut the car off.

Depending on how well this works, I may try printing a charging base for my new phone when it comes in. For this interested in modifying this or swapping in your own ball mount accessories the ball measures 16.75mm. That is about 1-2mm bigger than other balls I have. I would have thought these would have been standardized.

So I went for a little drive and the phone was pretty solid. NJ roads aren't great so there were plenty of potholes and I even went over a few RR crossings and all was good. Home button is easy to reach, the only issues I had were that it partially blocks the air from the vent. Not bad right now since it is only in the 70's but mid summer I may have regrets. Also it blocks the left side of the screen a little. I may mess with the location if I print a charging base in the future.

Thanks for sharing, I have used ProClips for my last three cars, they're expensive but solid. Did you consider installing yours on the other side of the infotainment center closer to the passenger? That's how the ProClip is and it blocks a cup holder but not much else. But again it's much more expensive.

I have used Proclip in other cars but I thought the position was too low for the TourX. I am not in a habit of using my phone but for some reason with this car I constantly have to fiddle with the USB cable. I would rather have some closer to my line of sight. I also wasn't found of the cup holder issue you mentioned.

This particular unit is side specific. I should have snapped a pic from the back, the hooks to the vent are at slightly different elevations.

Well my son wanted to go to Claws and Paws today so I got a chance to try the mount for a longer drive.

The good: Holds the phone solid with little vibration and I have to say the roads in PA near the zoo were worse than NJ.

The bad: I you have a heavy duty cable it might not fit between the bottom supports. I will get a measurement and update later. Also, I find this puts my phone a little too high and or right. So when using AA the next step in navigation is blocked and I have to look around it to see exit numbers etc.

As I mentioned I hope to print a phone specific mount which hopefully will address both issues

Naw I do have this for my wireless cell phone charging. Mine is the magic Mount version 3 for a Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus 1 TB

I can't find this item via your link @ aliexpress, but would like to find the same for the passenger side.
Did you see a [passenger]side specific option available?

It has been a while so I am guessing the original vendor is out of stock. I did a quick search for "Buick Regal phone mount and found something similar. It was without the phone cradle, but to be honest that was the weak point of this for me. I used the base to then mount another holder I fabricated out of spare parts I had laying around. It isn't pretty but minimizes the issues I had with the original blocking the AA screen. As for a passenger specific option...that I haven't seen, with the exception of the more universal ones that mount to a vent.

wow...that is a lot of adjustability but also a lot of chance for something to come loose

The "spring clip" fastener handle doesn't lock down like some that look like this one, it's just a handle to tighten the clamp via threads.
I don't think there's any place on the dash the clamp would open wide enough to grasp.
Seems sturdy enough, though & quite versatile positioning.
Hafta see how the multiple pivot points hold up while driving & over time...

The clamp part, does it have soft material or hard material to grab onto the panel?

It's lined with a soft pad, but not at the very tips.
If you install like i did, you have to clamp it pretty tight & there's an indentation in the soft console material, which could leave a noticeable dent that does not fully recover at some point. The dent does disappear if it was clamped for only a couple days.
