2004 Buick Park Avenue
Hi friends, I bought a 2004 PA and as the title says the front passenger interior overhead grab handle is always in open position and wont stay in retracted position. I think the springs have broken. I tried to look for replacement but can not find it anywhere. Do you know if there are any useful sources for compatible handle or replacement springs?

I went over the list 3 times, but I can not find it

Buy two small flat magnets (neodymium or rare earth magnet) glue one on the handle and the other one un the frame.
The handle will hold again 🙂
Unconventional but simple and noone will notice.
Just glue the magnets in the right oriantation so they will be attrackted to each other.

Thinking outside the box. Love it!

I like the small magnet idea. Choose your glue carefully.

My other solution was to be familiar with your car's interior plastic color and start hitting
up various pick-n-pull car parts places hoping to find a similar year Park Avenue or Buick leSabre
with the same handle that they will sell separate from the headliner.

I suggest that because there are many leSabres and some Park Avenues from the last
generation that are still driving around our area. And those will end up in recycling yards
slowly as accidents or major failures happen.

I believe our 2003 leSabre had the grab handle on the Celebration model that we bought.
It's a limited that had special leather seats.

Good luck, and I like the idea of the small magnets. There are even flexible magnets
that can be cut to shape with scissors. You might check a craft store like Hobby Lobby
for that kind of specialty thing. I have them to have odd things that I need.

I think the lesabre handles are different than park avenue, also different from pontiac bonneville and oldsmobile aurora (colors too)

Yes, that’s the problem. Park avenues have unique grab handles and there aren’t any in nearby junk yards

I tried this, but it soon failed
The magnets are hard to line up and they hold on really well. Plus the glue gives up easily. I thought of maybe’s using Velcro patches but those didn’t work either.

For the moment, I just used a temporary solution. When Velcro idea failed I just got a bit annoyed, took the Velcros folded into a small square and jammed them up in the handle gap at handles retracted position.

90 percent of the time handles arent used so its good for me

If you ever want to source a new handle, 2003-2005 are your years, the interior colors changed a lot and dont match 100% the earlier colors

If you're still looking for a handle. Let me know. I just might have one. But not sure of your color. Will need a pic.
