US taillights are among the easiest to wire. If your "restoration" needs to be COPO, then dismiss what I'm about to say.
From the headlight switch, find the connector for the exterior lights (aka, running lights, marker lights, parking lights, taillights), and then run a brown wire to the rear on the left side, then extend it to the other side so that the rear of the car has taillights from the one wire.
From the turn signal switch, which also controls the brake lights, run 2 wires, one yellow and one green, to the rear along the left side of the car. The yellow goes to the left, and the green goes to the right.
From any metal at the rear, use either white (like on trailer connectors) or black wire to supply a ground to each lamp.
When you're done, you have brown (running), yellow (left brake/turn), and white or black (ground) on the left side. On the right side you will have brown, green (right brake/turn), and white or black.
Splice them into your new sockets, add bulbs, and test for proper operation.
The fuse panel should already have your protection, so using the switches just taps into them after they've been protected by their respective fuses.
Voila! Bob's Yer Uncle!
