Tallest Tire

255/45/18 is about 1/4" shorter than a 235/50/18. So 1/8" less sidewall. If you really want more sidewall, going down to a 17" rim will net the largest gain.
Your comment helped me understand there wasn’t much sidewall difference. Getting some 255/45 Yokohama Advan sport a/s+ Saturday. Impressed with ratings, rolling resistance, etc. Slight trade off was ride. I’ll find out.

Will a 235/55/R17 fit on the wagon?

I'm downsizing 1. When I had the Verano I went from 18" to 16" and the ride was so much quieter and softer. On the wagon you can only go down to 17", 16" won't fit. I currently have 18" but want to replace them with 17" once these cheap Chinese tires (that came with the used car) wear down.

If you want to maintain speedometer accuracy you need 235/55x17

Turns out the Yokohama tires have a rim protecting lip. Cold psi 34. Rides great.
