- 1953 Buick Special 41D 4 door sedan
Hi, I'm new to this forum and I a hoping to get some help and advise and also share what knowledge I have.too.
I recently bought a 1953 Buick Special 41D 4 door sedan. It's a Resto-mod.
It has had a frame off restoration (about 5-10) years ago . The guy who was having all the work done died. And then it sat in a storage locker for 5-10 years.... So most of the records and knowledge of what was done to it and part numbers and all sorts of information that would be so very helpful. Lol
But it is really nice. He didn't quite finish it.
There is no weather stripping anywhere at all (doors, trunk, window sweep, quarter window gaskets.)
But he did have a lot of work done. It has a 350 "Corvette" rebuilt engine (only 700 miles on it), TH "Turbo Hydramatic" transmission (only 700 miles) custom interior and paint job. 12 volt conversion, retrosound blue tooth radio, Ford 9 inch Rear End ñand soooo much more.....
Right now I'm trying to get the windshield wipers to work. They seem like they want to work, but just move up a couple inches. I know that the original one is vacuum operated. It would really surprise me if the original one is still there.... Here is a couple pictures I took from under the dash. In the back of it, it looks like there may be a thing in the back of it that a vacuum line might go in. But I don't know what an original one would look like. Is this the original one? Should a vacuum hose be ran to that pipe looking thing on the back of it? Please help me if you can.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thank you, Kurt
