Well.... This is a weird issue. My 2001 LeSabre exhibited a strange issue while on a long vacation drive this past week. The A/C has been working great otherwise. Nothing has been recently replaced or touched. Here's what happens -

- I'll stop for gas and use the facilities, then re-start the engine. Zip, nothing. No blower, no fan.... nothing. Weird.

- I decided to drive away and deal with it when I got home. A few minutes later, the fan blower fan kicked-on and I had A/C again. ??

- This has happened twice in the past week. The ventilation controls are not changed or moved when this happens. It just stops (No air or fan moving air)

- Once it starts-up again... it's fine.

....Any ideas? Blower motor??? Some faulty resistor? Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If both the AC compressor & fan both randomly stop working after shutting off the engine, I would become suspicious that the digital Climate controller in your 01 Touring LeSabre has an issue. I've got (3) LeSabre's but only one has the digital climate controller. Maybe try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes and reconnecting (you'll have to re-enter any presets). For situations like this, I've thought about making an extension harness to where I can access the signals in the back of the digital climate controller so that I can gain access to the controller I/O wiring for troubleshooting but never made one. If the battery disconnect doesn't work, unless another member has a different idea, I think I'd buy a spare. They are available on Ebay.

When this happens, is the panel on the climate control still lit up and showing the temperature you selected? Everything is set as before, just nothing happens for a few minutes?

How many keys are on your keyring?

If there have been a lot at any time in the past, then every bump turns them into a slidehammer. Next time this happens, take the trans out of P or N and wiggle the key to see if power returns. Moving the shifter will keep it from "starting" the running engine.

Thanks for the replies... Actually, my climate control is a manual unit.

I don't have a lot of keys on my key ring. Only two. I'm thinking..... perhaps the blower motor is stopping?? A resistor??? Still doing research.

At this point, I believe it has a lot to do with the blower motor stopping for some reason.
