Hello all!
My friend has a 2006 Lucerne CXL 3.8L that he asked me to find the coolant leak, and after finding that I noticed a hose not connected to anything in the engine compartment. It is a short black fuel line with hose clamps on it. One end is connected to the return fuel line coming from the fuel tank. It has been cut short and this black fuel line has been added.
Now my question is, where does it go to connect on the engine? I can not find any open places to connect it to. Myself and my friend have looked over the motor and the engine compartment several times, trying to find where the lost connection is to no avail. I'm a seasoned mechanic of almost 50 years, and still can't find it. I've looked over the whole fuel rail, yet don't see the return line coming off of it. Now that's not saying much as I have to use glasses to see, and still can't see good, but as short as the black hose is, there is nothing to hook it up to.
I'm thinking a piece of the return line is missing, but again, I can't find where it's missing from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any pics would help, I have a good magnifying glass for that.
I have searched online for service manuals, diagrams, and everything else I can think of, including pics of engine bays, and nothing so far. 2 days of searching is more than enough for me. TIA for your help & understanding!

There is no return fuel line so not sure what you are looking at. The other line is the EVAP line #5 in the diagram which may be what you are looking at. Posting a photo may help on additional information.

PCV is possibly what is also there.

Thank you! It's the evap line but the #5 is missing. That helps a lot, I was looking for the wrong thing. Again Thank you!
