Trifecta Performance Tune

He hasn't sent me any updates so, so far no. I can say the car has been hanging in the 22-24mpg range in mixed driving, a little more aggressively then I would usually drive. When you have more power on tap you just want to go faster.

I'll do some more data logging this week and e-mail Vince. I'm going to try and do some data logging this week and e-mail him. I'm also going to put E85 in the car for my next tank and see how that goes.

I've been busy lately so I haven't been active in the whole auto blogging update thing.

oh and also, I drove the car in some 60 degree weather for the first time the other night.

holy **** does it make more power in the cool air.

I've been lurking for a few days, traded my HHR SS in on a 2011 Buick Regal CXL Turbo.

It was tuned by Vince @ Trifecta. The HHR SS was fully bolted on and running a BNR 2871GT (390 whp on E30, 375whp on 93), that I took off to put on my Regal eventually.

Vince is in the process of sending me the latest tune he was working on yesterday.

Email I got from Vince @ Trifecta.

I’ll send you the latest one I was working on yesterday – my car actually torque-steers on the highway with it. Haha. I also smoked an E36 BMW M3 over the weekend with it. That kid had no idea what hit him. “Yes, you just got your a$$ handed to you by a Buick.”

I will also be upgrading both my upper and lower intercooler pipes this next weekend. :headbang:

Along with a custom catless DP in Sept and probably a IC upgrade in preparation for the bigger turbo.

Dude come on, don't tempt me

:headbang:

Who needs a Regal GS Fail Wheel Drive when you can have a 300-350whp AWD version 😀

Where are you getting awd from?

Should've put a 300-350 awhp AWD version Regal CXL

Vince's tune is making to 262 awhp and 284 awtq on all stock stuff.

The tune hes sending me he was working on yesterday is a little more aggressive.

So 300-350 awhp is very doable especially with upgrades, especially a turbo upgrade.

As for the Regal GS last I read it was still only coming in FWD/6 spd manual (after GM initially saying AWD), did GM change there minds again and are now offering a AWD version?

Are you saying your Regal is AWD? I think that is where the confusion is coming from.

Wow this post gets me excited! Now to figure out how to get the money.

So does anyone know if the added torque will trash the Aisin 6-spd automatic trans? I suspect the ecotec can handle a lot, but I am wondering about the rest of the drivetrain.

i think i would trust the asian trans over the other. if we should stick with Vince ,it would be nice for some sort of discount..

It is designed to handle a maximum of 440 N·m (324.5 ft·lbf) of torque according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AWTF-80_SC

I forget how much over the actual torque ratings transmissons are tested for, maybe someone else can chime in on that part?

One of the reason Vince@Trifecta bought the 6 spd auto version Regal was so he could offer TCM tuning eventually.

Well I got the tune installed today, definetly a power jump, of course it performs better in manual mode as you can shift when you want and not the computer trying to shift for gas mileage.

I put the whp figures Vince got on the dyno into a 1/4 mile ET calculator.

I got a 14.0 1/4 mile which seems about right because when I put in the factory weight of our Regals and the stock flywheel horsepower (220) it gave me right at 15.7 in the 1/4mile.

Also, 300 whp would put you at 13.5 1/4 mile and 350 whp would be 12.8 1/4 mile.

If the 6 speed auto can hold up to the torque, I will definetly be in the 300-350whp with tuning, probably closer to 350 whp since i was at 375 whp on a LNF with 93 Octane, bolt ons, turbo upgrade and good tune.

Transmission is my only concern above 300 whp

Has anyone approached Vince about a group buy? If not, I'll be willing to take point.

As I'm sure Vince will want to know our forum's interest level, I'll set up a poll to get an idea of how many people are interested.

I can offer group pricing if 5 people in the Metro Detroit area are interested

Roy, I'll include you as an option on the poll I'm setting up.

Vince has still not sent me the newest update 😡 he said he has one optimized for E85.

I've been running E85 for the past week or so and it has been awesome.

I also lost my laptop charger so I can't do data logging.

Vince told me the tune is optimized for either e85 and 93 octane premium.
