I've got a 2007 lacrosse stuck in park. Center console is ready to remove but I cannot get the shifter knob off even with a right angle Philips.
Anyone have any tricks?

Thanks for that 02ltd, but on this model the bezel around the shifter is a solid piece so I can't pop it off and get to the release. Used an endoscope to look for it and it's a few inches away from where I can reach coming from the firewall.
I'm trying to use a 90 degree Philips to get the shifter knob off but I'm running out of swear words.

I got it apart, thanks

I had replaced the speakers in my doors, but misplaced the clips and I am now unable to find replacements for them. The clips are seen in this video, at the timestamp:

I have tried multiple OEM shops and checked Amazon too, but I cant find something that would fit right. Am I missing something?

This is the closest I have found so far:

Would any of these work? I want to make sure I get this right before I just slap it into my car and call it a day.

You can try searching by GM Part number 15225228 there may be a few floating around, but it's discontinued. Junkyard is probably the best route to locate any.

Thank you! That's the exact part I was looking for. Yeah most places arent selling it online, but I can try my local junkyards. Worse case, I can see if there is anything that would work with what is out there in non-unique parts.
P
I found an ebay listing, but its $22 per part and they have exactly 1 on hand 💀

We all have those days where we just need a good laugh, so let’s get a dedicated discussion going for exactly that.

The rules are simple: If you see a picture, meme, or comic that makes you laugh, drop it here.
  • Keep it within the forum rules (let's keep the completely Not Safe For Work stuff out of here).
  • No politics or heavy drama - this is an escape from all of that!
  • Context is optional. Sometimes a weird photo with no explanation is the funniest part.
Let's see what you've got!

You know there are people who would buy this. 😛 The only reason I would not is because now I'm too paranoid about getting an upset stomach - or worse. 😛

Recently running into a bit of a strange issue with my 2019 Encore Preferred. Have had it for 3 years now and up until the last month, I never had any issues with the infotainment system. However, recently there will be instances where the infotainment system (screen, radio, etc.) do not shut off after the car has been turned off and the driver's door opens. It is not consistently occurring and the majority of the time the infotainment system shuts off as normal. Any ideas on what this may be or if anyone else has run into this issue? From what I've gathered, it seems like it may be an issue with the retained power accessory (RAP) or the body control module (BCM).

When this happens do the interior lights remain OFF?

Twice recently after heavy rains, I've opened the door to find that the foot area of the passenger seat full of water. No other water in the car. Could not find the point of entry. I think it must be traceable to some blockage of ducts, but haven't found it YET around the windshield/wiper/dashboard complex. Anybody have solved the same problem?

According to my dealership's Service Manager, the problem is indeed caused by some blocked filters within the sunroof drains. The filters were originally owner-serviceable, but the tale goes that owners felt that was not adequate, so they were changed to dealer-only serviceable filters. My dealership says I should just ask to have the drains checked whenever I go in for an oil change, which (so far) has not resulted in any extra charge. Seems like too long an interval: we'll see which comes first. Also seems a bit crazy, if I'm just waiting for the car to flood instead of having any warning it might happen.

Appreciate this info. I have a 2018 TourX and today while driving in the rain, the car started calling OnStar SOS over and over. Then the overhead console started dripping. I suspected a sunroof drain issue. Proving my better half right that a sunroof brings trouble!

Sorry to hear this about your sunroof clog, but glad you got it figured out. I had this problem in my '07 RDX (parked under trees in my driveway for 12 years of ownership)...and it is why I did not get the roof option in my TourX. Although I do miss it, I have to remind myself no sunroof is the price of trees for me! (That, and about 4-5 rounds of leaf cleanup in the fall, LOL!)

HOWEVER, even without the pano roof, you will be astounded at the amount of debris that collects in the TINY crevice adjacent to the roof rails!
The only way to clear them out is with water blast or compressed air (or maybe a shop vac....)

Update: I got my TourX into my local mechanic before the dealership could see me. He was able to clear the drains and it resolved the issue completely.

Ha. Tell me about it. I blast all the crap from those channels every time I wash the car. 🤣

In the process of unclogging the driver's side front drain. When I popped the hood, I noticed that the grommet that secures the drain hose into the hood is missing. I can pull the hose through the opening but was hoping not to have to replace the entire piece. Does anyone know if that piece is detachable from the hose? Or am I going have to replace the whole thing?
Thanks

Howdy,

I'm inheriting a 2015 Buick Lacrosse V6 leather trim with about 60k miles. It was the typical low mileage, old person car.

I've never owned a Buick. In fact I've never really owned an American built vehicle.

This would be a 2nd vehicle for me, a weekend car for going to the dog park and other random things.

Are these reliable? Is a 10 year old Buick seen better days or can I rely on it like a Toyota? Should I sell it while it is still worth something or should I keep it because it's a good car that will continue to be a good car 10 years from now.

Any and all opinions are welcome. Tell me it's a piece of shit or otherwise.

Thanks

I recently bought new pads and rotors for my wifes 1996 Century. I have not been in the front brakes of this car yet. I did the rear several months ago. I replaced the drums, shoes, hardware, cylinders and brake lines.
Now I need to do the front and was hoping some of you guys could send me pictures of the mounting hardware. I would hate to pull off the wheel just to have to put it back on to go get more tools. I know you guys understand when I say I want the wife to feel like I know what I am doing, plus it would save me time. lol I am hoping they are hexhead, but I feel like it is going to be something I no longer have, like torx or allen.

Depends, GM original bolts were 3/8" allen head. Most of the aftermarket replacements can be 14mm hex and chinese ones 10mm hex. Best is turn turn wheel all the way left or right and take a look, easy to see. After 30yrs only way to know

I know that some GM cars do have metric as well. Is there a possibility they could be metric? I'm not sure where this Buick was built. I just know that my '84 Camaro was built in Canada and it has a lot of metric bolts and nuts on it. And not being as young as I used to be makes me want to limit the amount of times I lay on the dirt to get under this car. So, guess I am wondering if a 10mm Allen would fit in the bolt head.

Very good tool vendor....

Oh, the wife caught me looking at the tools. 🙄 Uh oh.

Looks like Harbor Freight for me. lol
ulycyc
harbor freight hand tools are ok. Just be careful of tools that plug in, lift or support.

Lucky for me all I need is the Bit Socket. However, that cannot be better advice. Harbor Freight power tools are not very good.

Still looking for a solution to replacing the balancer bolt for a 2005 Buick Century 3.1L SE. I've ordered an ARP 120-2501 balancer bolt (says it fits this car) but I'm out of other options. If this doesn't fit, what other options are there?

I think a grade 10.9 M12 x 1.5 thread bolt would work if you can find it in or cut it the correct length.
S
My understanding after some deep digging is that the original bolt on the 2005 Century is not Torque-to-Yield (TTY). I am just seeing 10.9 class fasteners were used. If this is the case, then you should be able to re-use your old bolt with some medium blue locktite after a through clean of the bolt and bolt hole. Torque should be 80 ft-lbs. Cylinder head bolts are all I show that are TTY that I see.
ulycyc
The bolt is TTY. Here are the buick century specs.

Here is a link to a Grade 10.9 M12x1.5x45 bolt -

While it is not TTY, it should be strong enough for your application.

Or, you can order ARP M12x1.5x45 bolts from Summit Racing - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/arp-664-1005?seid=srese1

I think this is the best alternative. I have heard very little negative stuff about ARP, and there is a decent chance the replacement will not be TTY. A re-useable replacement would be ideal in either case. I don't do wrench work professionally anymore except for myself these days. I do deal in obsolete auto parts though.

I do know that at the dealership near by, they reuse those bolts for what it is worth. I also know I have reused them too at our shop with no issue, not to say that it can't happen. All things are possible. However, if a ARP replacement can be found, then that is great. The 3.1L was a very heavily used engine across GMs lineup for several decades, the possibility of there not being a single option makes very little sense. I know that engine was used through and may have been phased out just after the 2005 model year, which I think was the last year before it was replaced by the 3.4L. I think, it's been a minute. All that said, there were millions of those engines and it's variants floating around world wide.

If Dorman does not have one, then making a plea to ARP to produce one specifically for the 3.1L with torque specs should be considered and may take the community to back a representative or just flood their inbox.

Gentlemen. I have a 1969' Buick Riviera. I'm in Sacramento Ca. I'm in need of 2. Front axle. Brake rotors. My vehicle is equipped with Delco Moraine brakes. Which has proven to be a bit of a curse. Any info or leads would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

So I'm running into a bit of an unusual issue with my 2019 Encore Preferred. I've had it for about 3 years now with no issues related to the infotainment system. Recently, however, there have been a few instances where the infotainment system (screen, radio, bluetooth, etc.) do not shut off after the car has been turned off and the driver's door opened. It isn't happening all the time. In fact, most of the time the screen turns off as normal. Anyone else run into this issue or may now what the culprit is? From what I've gathered it may be related to the retained accessory power (RAP) or the body control module (BCM)?
