02 Regal driver’s side dash compartment

Unhooked one end of a long accordioned rubber tube under the dash,driver’s side, while replacing an actuator for the HVAC system. This is an 02 Regal. Could feel a faint vacuum coming from the end removed. Can’t get access to hook it back up. What exactly is it for?

I was replacing both my actuators last night. The tube I believe you described is the tube that reads the inside temp. for auto climate control. If the tube runs to the front of the dash with little vent holes on the dash, then that's what that must be.

That sounds perfectly logical to me. Will double check the front of the dash connection when I get a chance. Wonder if the slight vacuum was due to the air blowing at the windshield in defrost mode. Also wonder where that disconnected end plugs into. An exploded view of the HVAC system could show it.
