15 Regal wont start and dash goes black when start button is pushed.

I have a 15 regal with a 2.0 turbo. I bought the car with a seized motor. It sat for about a year. When I bought it, the battery was junk and when you tried to start it with the charger, I would get 1 click and the dash would go black. I have now replaced the engine and the battery. I am still having the same problem. If you turn on the accessories, everything works. The moment you try to start the car, you get 1 click from the starter and the dash goes black. After about 30 seconds or so, the dash and radio will come back. I had the starter tested, it’s good. I tried replacing the relay, no luck. Even with the relay REMOVED, the dash still goes black for the same period when trying to start. Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

Bad ground?

I agree. It is likely one of your larger battery or ground cables with too much resistance/poor connection. Break out the voltage meter and do lots of testing with the cranking circuits. Last resort, may be internal to the fuse block(they are printed circuit boards and can have solder joint issues at times) Must test though, and don't throw parts at it
