Just purchased a 2006 Buick Lacrosse with 18k miles on it. Its in excellent shape. An older couple were the original previous owners. Does anyone recommend what type of maintenance i should get done on it?

I'm assuming since it sat for so long and didnt drive very much in the last 10 years that all fluids are original. Please let me know your recommendations as I have no prior auto experience.

Also, the bushings have been replaced I am told that dry rotting would of caused that.

Thanks in advanced.

Definitely engine oil, oil filter, coolant, maybe brake fluid, and possibly air filter (hold up to sun to see). Transmission fluid should last a long time in sealed transmissions, but it wouldn't hurt to have a drain/fill and transmission filter replacement.

How are the tires? They may be cracking after 8-9 years. Same for any engine belts and hoses. Visually inspect them.

Thanks for the response, Stoopid. The lexus dealership in which it was traded into replaced the tires with new good year integrity tires.

Also the bushing have also been replaced by the last owner, Im assuming because of dry rotting the changed it.

In addition, there is a new rack and pinion Im assuming the previous/ original owners struck a curb or something similar and had to replace it. However, the steering column does feel like it could be rubbing as a result of the new rack and pinion.

I'll have a mechanic do all of the fluids and check the belts. But should I take it to a Buick Dealership to have the work done. Or would you recommend to go to any mama papa shop?

Also, i had a battery place check the battery and it is good. The only thing is a short with the charging outlets (fuse blows every time). I know the electric work can be costly so i want to save money and get the job done right.

Thanks

a private shop with ASE certified mechanics is fine. Are you checking the charging outlets with more than one devise to make sure the plug is not the problem?

Im not sure if I should have the transmission fluid changed. Im taking it to meineke auto they have a special going on to change the coolant fluid and oil. I am going to have them change the Transmission fluid for 139. But Im not too sure. Also, I need to get a device to check the outlets how do I obtain that?

The tires are in great condition.

I'm just not sure about the transmission. I don't want to hurt the trans by having it changed.
