1989 Buick Electra Park Avenue
1989 Park Ave with approx. 39,960 miles. New tires and brakes within the last 2 years. Ran fine and strong until a couple of months ago. Then.....

Here are recent developments (last couple of months) that seem to be connected or just a super coincidence.
- The car has digital dash. When driving along speedometer jumps up 199mph and flashes. It might reset itself but will definitely resets after restarting car.
- This next item seemed to start roughly the same time. Start car and it might immediately rev up about 2400rpm and won't kick down. shut off and restart might be normal might still be high rpm's. Continue doing this if getting hi rpm's and eventually will get normal rpm's.
- Engine also may stall while idling. More of a sputter then die. Also may do this when doing slow roll to stop sign or light even when engine at normal op temp.
- Have lost heater / a/c fan all together. It was working in January when I picked up car and drove it from Binghamton, NY area. although just hi speed. This spring it stopped all together.

After doing some reading on the forum, am wondering if these issues might be related to the grounding issue I've seen mentioned many times. I realize fan may be just a mechanical issue.

Thanks for any insights you may have.

Update to above post;

- mechanic hit blower fan housing with hammer and fan has been working fine ever since. (will replace soon)

- a/c checked for leaks and recharged

- still working on stalling issue. Garage very busy last week and shorthanded with vacations so didn't get a lot of attention. Being a secondary vehicle, not an issue. Should get more attention this week.

Check the Idle Air Control sensor, smoke test for vacuum leak, tap the MAF and see if it changes idle - if it does probably bad, also - remove MAF connector and see if engine idle changes - if it does it's good.

Update II;

-MAF sensor definitely bad and being replaced

-Speed Sensor bad and creating flashing dash issue which in turn then leads to it interaction with MAF and causing car to stall - being replaced
