Hey all,
I have a 1994 Lesabre that has about 125,000 miles on it that recently developed a stalling problem. This is the third car with a 3.8 that I've had, but the first with this problem. The car has started to die randomly after driving for a while and it only dies when my foot is not on the gas. I can put it in neutral and fire it back up and go about my way until it stalls again, and i have to fire it up. I have always been able to put it in neutral and fire it up while rolling. At first there was an intermittent code, but now it is constant, and that was the only issue but now the cruise wont work. When I first noticed a problem the car had a high idle, but I found a bad vacuum line that took care of that, and the next day my stalling issue started.
I don't have a code reader that can read the "obd1.5" and don't know a mechanic that does either.
Thanks for any help pointing me in the right direction.

Hi my name is Eli from Israel, sorry for my English.
Please check fuel pump relay behind glove BOX, engine oil pressure unit, grounding computer engine, fault checking OBD1.5 will help
, A high RPM may indicate a malfunction in the ignition system, wire testing
Ignition module, ignition module BASE cleaning, wire test for crank sensor
Sometimes they are damaged and have difficulty seeing them (connected to the sensor).
Also check fuel pressure, successfully.

I dont think it's fuel related because it will fire back up instantly. It doesn't have to crank and crank to build up pressure.

Could also be the Mass Air Flow sensor. I had a MAF sensor with a cracked case, and it would behave erratically. Occasional stall and/or loss of power. On a '92 Lesabre. The sensor can also be cleaned, but only use a sensor-safe cleaner, and don't touch the fragile wire.

I've never replaced the crank sensor, is that a known issue with these?
I've cleaned the maf with maf cleaner and didn't notice any defects in the case.

If it stalls very suddenly when warm, crank sensor can do that. It can also be the ignition switch. Tap the switch when running. See if you can make it stall.

Usually, if the CKPS, or the ICM fail due to heat intrusion, the engine will not immediately start up while rolling. They would both take time to cool down before the ignition activates. Since this appears to be a random problem and with an immediate restart after stalling, I would suspect the MAF. Been there done that!

Thinking about crank sensor as well. Better if you can have it read for any codes.
