1995 Buick LeSabre Limited
Hey all! I have a 1995 Buick LeSabre Limited and I recently tried to install a new instrument cluster (with all of the actual gauges that mine doesn’t have) and after this my car went downhill... Plugged the new gauge cluster in and it did something for a split second then stopped. So, I just assumed it wasn’t compatible or the old 90’s GM electronics had gone bad. So, I put mine back in, started up the car, and that gauge cluster worked, chime sounded a bit distorted, and the radio, and climate control no longer worked. The Climate Control now just shows a “C•F•” I’ve checked the fuses, all seem fine. I’ve check the wiring behind my radio, all seems fine. So, I’m kinda stuck... I really don’t know how these two things are connected. I’ve searched the inter webs and just cannot seem to find anything related to what happened in my situation. Funny thing is, I told myself I would probably regret messing with my instrument cluster before I did it. Should’ve trusted my gut...

Welcome to the forum. I would start with the simple things first. If you have not done so, I would remove my negative battery terminal and leave it disconnected for several hours. The hope is that the “ reset” will have a positive effect on the situation. It is worth a try. Let us know how this works out.

Will give it a shot tonight, should I try to force the electricity to drain from the car by holding the brake or anything or just let it do it’s own thing?

Just let it do it’s on thing. Climate control turned off, ignition off, key removed. There is no guarantee that this reset will work but worth a try. This has worked for me in about 50 percent of the attempts to reset certain things.

So, I’ve let it sit for about 14 hours, powered it on just a few minutes ago and the problem still persists... no changes or anything to report.

I took the instrument cluster back out to inspect the wiring behind it, everything seems fine back there as well. could the ECM be going bad? I’ve also unplugged both the radio & thermostat and no changes. Any other modules that may have been affected? Maybe an ignition switch? I really don’t know where to go from here. Further research isn’t giving me anything to go on.

When I bought my last Lesabre (2001 Limited) the HVAC didn't work. It was reading CF as well. The Dash Integration module was bad. Bought one at a junkyard for 50 bucks and my HVAC was restored.

After work today I will run to the junk yard and see if I can find one. Seems it’s under the driver’s side dash on a ‘95. Makes sense that this may be it though. Putting a different gauge cluster in with possible bad parts may have messed with it or shorted it.

I bolt and one connector. IIRC it's a 7 mm bolt.
