I’ve got a 1995 Lesabre Limited with auto climate control. It started acting up a couple drives ago. I would turn the key off and the blower motor would continue to run for a couple seconds then shut off. Then it would run till I cycled the key from off to run and back to off. Yesterday it wouldn’t shut off no matter what I did except unplugging it. I couldn’t control the fan speed it was on wide open. I did a search and didn’t find exactly what I needed. I’m going to start with the fan relay if it has one and see if the coil on the relay has power when I turn the key off. It could just be a stuck relay.

My heater control.

No blower motor relays in the relay center under the hood.

Mine is from the dark ages, stupid controls have there merit at times lol.

I'm not familiar with your controller regarding the fan motor if it's a internal problem of the controller or external.

The blower motor has #13 resistor and this one in my experience can stop the fan from operating, not sure if it would cause your problem if bad.

I think I found the correct drawing. Hopefully I can figure this one out.

Auto climate control does not have relays and uses a blower control module to control fan speeds. When the BCM fails, the fan will either run all the time even with ignition off, or not at all. You need to replace the control module.

Thanks Hot Z28 that’s what I came up with yesterday also. I’ve got one on the way should be here by noon. 120$ not giving them away. Duralast JA1543 looks like it’s orientated different than mine but should work.

I spoke too soon. The original problem is solved. The blower motor shuts off when I turn the key off. The new problem I have to figure out is the passengers side blows cold no matter what I do with the controls. I have the auto climate control. I have passenger controls on the passenger door. Maybe the blower control I got isn’t the right one? I installed the duralast JA1543. Has anyone had this problem before or some insight.

The blower control has nothing to do with how the air is directed. That is the function of the blend door actuators. Are you sure you did not disturb the vacuum line going into the programmer when you changed to BCM? I assume this was not a problem before you changed the BCM?

I’ll have to look at my service manual when I get home. The manual must talk about blend door calibration if it is needed. All the functions seem to work and I hear the blend doors moving except hot air comes out on the drivers side and cold on the passengers side. Seems like there is always some cold air coming out of the pass side defrost also. I never move my heater controls I just leave it in auto and adjust the temp. I was fiddling with all the buttons when my blower control went out and may have caused something to hang up. Good thing I have other vehicles to drive and it’s warmed up a bit. It’s been -10 to -25 for the last week.

do you have dual zone climate, as inthe passenger temp is controlled separately from the main control (on the passengers door I think)

If you plan to keep the car or want to have a better part on hand, perhaps keep an eye out next time you're near a junkyard.

I do have auto control with passenger control. When the car is started the hot and cold bars are not illuminated just the buttons on the passengers side. So the passengers side air mix valve should follow the drivers side (primary). When the hot or cold buttons are pressed it lights up bars that indicate hotter or colder adjustment. Which should then independently move the passengers air mix valve. I get no temp change on the passengers side it stays full cold no matter what I do. I do have a code I believe as my heater display flashes when I start the car. I have access to a couple scan tools from a buddy that he says will pull body codes. I think I’m just going to tear into it and see if the gears are bad on the actuator or it isn’t operating. Thanks for the parts diagram. Now I know what I’m looking for. Hopefully there is a part number on the actuator and I can get one from GM still.

Looks like the gear is stripped.

Ordered one from the dealership.
