Hello -

I’ve scoured the forums about this topic. The posts I found we’re old and included links I couldn’t access “permission denied”.

We’ve checked the fuses, and we tried to find the tiny tube for the vacuum inside the engine area, but we can’t find it. We looked at removing the battery, but there is a shelf below it that we couldn’t see a way of removing or going around.

We found a part that appears to plug into hoses in the engine compartment just dangling. There was also a single 1/2” tubing unplugged from something. It appears that this should plug into something, but we can’t figure out what goes in the other outlets!

If someone would be kind enough to guide us on this ac problem with more information about where this mystery part is, or ways to find that tiny vacuum tube that seems to be the problem a lot of the time.

We have basic tools and skills, but we are certainly not mechanically inclined. Our money situation is such that if we can’t fix it ourselves, then we will have to sweat out the desert summers!

Under the dash is a vacuum switchbox (my name) a black box with nipples to attach vac hoses that opens actuators for vent settings. Mine is a 2000 Regal LS. I got one at boneyard $10 fixed same problem

AC Vacuum control valve, but mine is a 2000

the problem you describe is typically an air blend door actuator not functioning. Concerning what you are finding under the hood, you will have to post some pictures to get a clearer idea of what you are seeing. It is doubtful that the two are related.

Thank you for your help. I think we’re going to try and replace that part this weekend. I attached a picture to my post that shows a picture of the part and hose. Can you see those pictures? If not, is there a way other than “upload files” to allow them to be seen? Thank you!!

does your windshield washer work?
