Anyone had any luck adapting these pulleys? I want to replace mine not go electric.

As it seems I didn't read the very beginning of the post this does make sense now. As it appears that there may not be a direct replacement here's another to add to the list. It's for the Mercury Marine Mercruiser 5.7 of the same years which could be a fit but hard to find all dimensions on it other than it's 3 inch OD. I had a 4 cylinder Mercruiser I/O and was able to convert there parts to cheaper GM parts so maybe this may work the other way?

I had the same issue, pulley on fan belt tensioner went bad and chewed up the pulley. I bought DAYCO 89095 idler pulley, 6 groves, 65mm x 17mm x 25mm. It's too wide so I chuck it up on a lathe and cut to the bearing level ( 5 grooves) and it works fine. when you install the belt put the spare grove toward the front. If you don't have a lathe you could probably cut it with a saw, the pulley is plastic.

Both my electric fans run together whenever the temperature calls for it OR whenever the a/c is on. New serpentine belt and new water pump and no more squealing from belts!.....a slight leak/drip from water pump put oily coolant on belt causing the squeal.....everything is working great now....old fan, tensioner, pulley, etc. is gone from front of engine now making it much easier to inspect or service water pump and optispark( which I finally replaced with an $800 MSD unit which is a fine unit......

After nearly a day of research there IS A SOLUTION. No need to convert to electric fans. Just go buy a Dayco 89512 Pulley and put it on as long as your tensioner is still good. It's slightly larger in diameter, but the center hole and the 4 rib width is the same. Costs around $40-45 and they are all over the internet for sale, even Amazon.

The guy below was giving you the numbers for the accessory drive belt tensioner. It's 6 groove and larger in diameter, the one for just the fan is 4 groove. The closest currently available pulley is by Dayco. Buy a Dayco 89512 Pulley and put it on as long as your tensioner is still good. It's slightly larger in diameter, but the center hole and the 4 rib width is the same. Costs around $40-45 and they are all over the internet for sale, even Amazon.

Does anyone know where i can find this tensioner. Every place i checked says it is no longer available. The new one recommended for this car does not fit.

As long as your tensioner is still good you can buy a suitable replacement for the pulley. Just go buy a Dayco 89512 Pulley and put it on as long as your tensioner is still good. It's slightly larger in diameter (70mm vs. 64.5), but the center hole and the 4 rib width is the same. Costs around $40-45 and they are all over the internet for sale, even Amazon.

A leaking water pump can leak coolant on belt/pulley, causing slippage and sqealing.....coolant is sorta slippery stuff....

Also, my second fan is wired into the thermostat of the first fan....so they come on together due to higher temperature AND they both come on when the a/c is turned on......so far this twin fan set up works great!!!!

I ALWAYS remove my 1994-1996 Roadmaster V92 car's mechanical fan and install an electric fan that can be programmed to run when needed (as opposed to all the time) by using this harness upgrade: Scroll down to "Primary Fan Harness". You will also need to get a primary fan from the junkyard along with 4 shorter bolts for the water pump and a fan shroud panel for factory dual electric fans.

I have done this 3 times so far. I even have one of these harnesses on standby in case I buy another V92 Roadmaster (I HATE the mechanical fans!)

Several years now and the new electric fan runs right with the old existing fan......same thermostat control.....absolutely no issues or problems with this set-up. Notice most new cars now use only electric fans?......I'm not aware of any modern vehicles that still use mechanical fans......

Old thread update on the Dayco 89512 pulley.. DOES NOT FIT!

Dont waste your time as the diameter at 70mm is too wide and does not fit, even with cutting it down. There is only 2.5 mm room between the stock pulley and spring shaft and once you you cut the outside ribs down, the center ribs will rub with the belt on. The DAYCO 89095 is a better choice at this point, unless someone has come up with a better solution for the pulley. Do not want to convert to electric fans at this point. Prefer the Mechanical in my hot climate, that day will come, when no more used tensioners can be found. Keeping it OEM for now.

And since I am, anybody have a Fan belt tensioner they want to sell?
Still has a good spring and doesn't rattle, I'll take it.
