So I've been looking into installing a cold air intake on my 97 Regal GS mainly to increase HP and Supercharger whine. But before I pull the trigger, I have some concerns. A car buddy of mine told me not to install a CAI because I have to drive on a dirt road (about .5 miles) to get to and from work and The maintenance and cleaning I would have to do wouldnt be worth the cost. I want a low maintenance intake that i dont need to worry about too much driving to work. I have done some research and found that the oiled intakes don't do too well with dust and dirt and that putting the intake in a box seems to kill the concept.
I was just curious if anyone could give me some opinions and suggestions based on first hand experience. Is this a good idea? Are there any other more safe options?
Thanks!
