Buick Ownership
1998 Park Avenue Ultra
Hello all,

I just picked up my first Buick and it came without keyless remotes. I see on the internet that many suggest replacing remotes by matching the model number on the back of the old ones but I haven't got those... The manual says the remotes will tell the car which driver is using it so I'm guessing one remote should have a number 1 on it and the other a number 2? Will they then have different model numbers?

Sorry to be so clueless but this is a new one for me!

Ok, looking at the first link it has a few models numbers... Does that mean I should just pick two different model numbers in order to have a Driver 1 and a Driver 2 remote? Or should they be the same?

Just to add to my confusion the parts diagrams available online show only one fob model number for this car - 25678792. But it seems like there should be two model numbers if one is for Driver 1 and one for Driver 2...

Success! I found a few with the right model numbers at a scrap yard (Driver 1 - model # 25665574, Driver 2 - model # 25665575 and one with no driver number - model # 25678792) all with the same FCC ID (KOBUT1BT). Took the three to the local dealership and they programmed them in about 10 minutes.

The one with no driver number shows as "Unknown Driver" in the DIC while the others are linked to "Driver 1" and "Driver 2".

Total cost for all three including programming $45 CDN.

Thanks everyone.
