Hi i have a 2000 Buick LeSabre with 148k miles on it. I've had it about a year and a half, and has been great up until about a month ago. Started a couple months ago, it would randomly stall coming up to a light or at very low rpms, only happened about once a month if that, and went away for quite a few months. But unfortunately it came back with a vengence. Basically this, whether short drives long drives it can drive perfectly fine, or what ive noticed is ill be on the the highway going 55-60 and ill get a few sputters almost like a misfire but not quite where it just feels like its starving for gas/air or just missing, that lets me know that hey, im going to stall when i get to low rpm's. Sure enough almost everytime i feel that ill get to a light and stall (ive been having to pull over when i know im coming to a light)and sure enough lights will all come up and stall. i can start right up just enough to pull up into place before itll struggle and stall again. i can get out let it sit for 5 minutes and go about my way sometimes for the remained of the drive (20-30 miles) and sometimes itll happen again in 10-20.
Ive taken it to my trusted mechanic, and the first thing he did was replace the crank sensor seeing as it is a common problem. He tested no problem. I pick it up drove home, no problem. Go to work in the morning... BAM! Still there, so i manage to get it back to him. he has it for 4 days driving it, short (10 minutes), long (30 minutes) and NEVER DOES IT FOR HIM. So he does more research and says could be ignition control module as they do weird things and he had one on hand would do it for free, and he replaced the fuel filter just because it was around that time. Once again he drives it nothing, drives fine. I get it back sure enough on the way to work same thing. Once again get it back to him, 2 more days of him driving it, it drives fine, throws NO CODES, nothing in the history. It almost feels like its starving for gas (but im no mechanic, just in IT and know to troubleshoot and research) and could be fuel pump. But he says GM Fuel Pumps, when they go out, they go out, they wont start up again, and since that is indeed an expensive procedure im inclined to believe him.
Morale of the story and sorry for the long post, but this is driving me crazy. What could cause this with no codes/nothing in history. And sometimes drive fine, and others die 3-4 times on a 25 min drive to work, on lunch break ~5 minute drive. \(0.0)/
