2000 buick regal LS transmission issues help please?

So have a 2000 regal Ls and my understanding is that the tranny is a 4t65e ? A month ago the car started chugging as if the gas was empty... then the service engine light came on so I read it with my scanner it came up as p0741 I think explanation was the TCC solenoid so my gf whose car it actually is kept driving when I told her not to until I fix the issue.. that being said it didn't get better and finally had the place, right tools and time to do it yesterday in hopes of it working. .. it didn't now it has 1st and reverse it won't shift out of 1st. Tranny screwed over or could it be something else? Where to find a tranny on the cheap in MN, st. Paul. Please help can't keep this one car thing up any longer..

That why it slips and has nothing in any other gear? In other words needs a new tranny? Any other trannys that will direct fit from other cars? Grand prix, century etc etc... ?

There two ID codes shown for the 2000 Regal.
A.T., 3.8L, w/o supercharged option; ID APB
A.T., 3.8L, w/o supercharged option; ID ARB

Look for the code sticker on your trans, then Check http://car-part.com/ for some options.

"chugging" sounds like a solenoid valve. Not going at all sounds like the band issue. I had the chugging or "hunting" issue when I would accelerate. It was as if the car was trying to find the higher gear but would not quite shift and kept going back to the lower gear before rapidly trying again. I spent 3 days in my garage replacing the 2 shift valves and another solenoid valve I don't remember the name of and this solved the problem. It was a real bear to replace these valves: had to cut the boot around the steering column to remove the u-joint pin, lower the whole engine/tranny a few inches to get the side plate off through the wheel well to get at the valves. But it saved me a bunch of labor cost and has kept the car going up to 245,000 miles now............
