2000 LeSabre Brake lights stay on constantly.

The break lights on our 2000 LeSabre suddenly started staying on continuously.Even when the engine is off and the key is removed. We had to remove the battery cable keep from killing the battery. We were told by a friend that it was probably a broken break light sensor located above the brake peddle. I have searched all over the internet and can not find either the location of this sensor or anyone who carries such a part. Please help
