This is the 3100 V6 engine. It has approximately 150K.

The owner has been in a different country so it's been sitting in a driveway. It was recently started up and inspected and was running fine until the caretaker left the lights on overnight, draining the (fairly new) battery. Now, when jumpstarting, it is not turning over...I just hear a clicking sound.

The starter was replaced with a new one approximately a year and a half ago. I'd be surprised if it's that. Starter solenoid or relay? That wouldn't surprise me. I don't know how this car has this arranged though.

I tried jumpstarting under the hood using the red hookup and a grounding with a battery pack. The other two tried jumpstarting it before I got there and they hooked it up wrong-I'm not sure what may have happened before I arrived. All I heard about was lots of sparks and that they hooked both cables up to the good car and then turned it on before hooking them up to the buick. That's a recipe for disaster right there as far as I'm concerned. Idiots.

I then tried jumpstarting it directly from the battery underneath the seat. Before this attempt, NOTHING would come on with the interior. After I tried the battery underneath the seat, I got all interior lights, dash lights, headlights, radio, etc. but upon trying to start it, it would just click-about twice a second.

So-where am I looking for the problem here?

Thanks all,
Huxley
