2001 Century transmission compatibility

I have a 2001 Century that seems to only want to move in 3rd gear. A garage which doesn't specialize in transmissions said I need a new transmission. I am not sure if it would make it to a transmission shop and back. I know it has the 4T65E in it and was wondering if any 4T65E would work in the car

You should try to find the same year/make/model of vehicle for 100% interchange. www.Car-Part.com is a used parts locator and also a great guide to see what models will work in place of your existing one. You should ALWAYS try to match the code from the ID tag from your existing transmission to the replacement transmission! There are several electrical changes, gear ratio options, case castings different for different mount arrangements and engines, torque converter types, cooler line fitting changes.
