2002 buick regal battery drain

I got my 02 regal back in early Feb. when it was still cold out. one morning going outside for work the battery was dead. when I tried to turn the car over the interior lights dash everything went out and also a clicking noise. so I jumped the car. after work auto zone said that the battery alternator was good. I even dropped the starter and they tested that too and all good. so then me and my uncle checked all the fuses with a meter and everything is ok. I gave in and got a battery ignoring autozone and the car worked good from late Feb. to a week ago. now the car is needing jumped again. the only thing I can really think of is that I can take my key out of the ignition once the car is on and drive without no key in ignition. the security light comes on once I pull the key out also. could it be the ignition draining the battery? im out of ideas any help is very appreciated, thx

start pulling fuses out to see what is draining the battery , I would start with the radio fuse first I have seen them go south before.

The key can come out because it's worn...it's not the cause of your drain.

I usually start with things that are powered when the car is off....namely, dome, glovebox and trunk lights. These parts are usually the ones that can intermittently stay on and drain the battery.
Flip down sunshades with lighted mirrors are another likely culprit.

After these, it's a matter of connecting an AMMETER (not volt) and monitoring the vehicle draw as you pull out fuses. Once a fuse isolates the circuit, you then have to test everything on that branch.

Good advice so far on tracking a drain, but it is strange that it started & ran fine for several months with a new battery installed. I know you said that AZ checked the alternator, but you should be able to verify that test yourself with a DVM probed on the battery terminals with engine running. You should see about 14.2+v @ 1200rpm when first starting. When the Battery is fully charged (12.67v) the alternator voltage should drop back to around 13.0-13.5v, depending on what accessories you have ON. Good luck & let us know what you find.

I have seen things like this happen when battery terminals corrode or become loose over time. It seems to be a drain but is actually the terminals not making good contact after a while. Just something to check.......

so I decided to pull out the power hd radio fuse on pass side fuse box. It runs the stock amp. I was reading and people say that the monsoon radio stock amp wont shut off. So its day 2 and the car starts up without hesitation or a jump. Is there a way I can by pass the amp so its only on when car is running???

I'd say it's far from conclusive that you've solved your problem.
You went months the last time.
If you really want to spend time and/or money why don't you buy another Monsoon amp off eBay? Can't be too expensive for those.

if I pull the key all the way back towards me and take the key out that's off right? Or ascesories? I can't tell cause the ignition is wore

Based on my experience (When it comes to Monsoon amps), usually its on dependent on the stereo. Some aftermarket stereos for whatever reason send a very tiny amount of voltage to make the amp turn on 24/7 even when the car is 100% off. You can tell if your system is acting like this is when you hear static/noise through the speakers (The lower 5.25 speaker is a great spot to listen for). With a stock setup, it shouldn't drain the battery.
