It appears to be a common problem with the Clusters on the 2000-2004 centuries that the LED display capacitor goes out on the clusters. However, most of the posts I see involve people fixing the display
Mine did this about 6 months ago and I had been driving around with no odometer, keeping gas tank tallies to know how often to change my oil.
Finally, the weather was nice enough to work on the car and I pulled my cluster and replaced with a gently used one I purchased on Ebay.
The car works fine and everything looks great. However the odometer mileage is wrong. Is there anyway to reset it to match the ECM?
I don't really plan on selling the car, I just put new struts, springs (they cracked) and wheel bearings in, as well as replaced the hollow sway bar with a solid model. However, I don't know if Wisconsin DOT might take issue with me next February when emissions time rolls around.
Am I best off trying to repair my old cluster? Or can the new one be made to match?
