As stated in title I have run into the hose connector on the evaporative system vent solenoid I need to replace, very unfamiliar. It doesn't have a piece, button, lever, to depress. You can't release it by squeezing. I seems to be solid all over. I hope someone has run into this before and can tell me the method to release the darn thing. Thanks in advance to all that can advise me.

Is that the purge solenoid that sits in front of the UIM? Please zoom out for context.

See that "flat" leg on the connector sticking down toward the engine? There should be another on the other side. Squeeze between both of them (not on top of them) and that should bend the plastic enough to "lift" each one away from the circular ring that they lock onto.

So, if they are at 12 and 6 o'clock, you'll squeeze at 3 and 9 o'clock.

Thanks for the help guys, but still can't release. The hose is coming from the evaporative canister and the coupler connects it to the vent valve/solenoid. Here are a couple of close-ups to see it better.

A very small screwdriver should do the trick.

I got it! I knew if I did enough searches something would show it. I went to youtube and found a video of this guy releasing difficult fuel couplers and I about missed it cause it was all black and new. It was that bottom most sliver of plastic and turns out that it could flex. I mean, that little layer is where you release? So I did, and you about have to squeeze with your fingernails pretty much to be thin enough to push the material. I could get one or the other but there was no room to put in your hand enough to squeeze hard enough to release the whole coupler. So, I did what 02LTD2.2 said and got my small screwdriver. So, with the combination of squeezing and lifting the other side of the coupler with the tiny screwdriver and twisting back and forth it finally came off. I was worried since I handled it so much it wouldn't work, but it went right back on and clicked. So that's this adventure over and I'm promising myself I won't go under another one because of the pain. I drove it like 15 miles and the code hasn't come back, thankfully. Thanks so much guys for the help and below is the clean new vent valve put in it's place and surrounded with dirty stuff.
