2003 Buick Regal LS
I have a 2003 Buick Regal that wouldn't crank because of the vats security issue. I replaced the lock cylinder & ignition wiring harness. I then did the resistor bypass and now it starts & runs. My issue is the lock cylinder never locks. The car can be started without a key. Is this because of the resistor bypass. I don't want to be looking for additional problems if they're not there. I'd appreciate anyone's help.

No….you have a mechanical issue. Go back in there and check your work.

You used a new lock cylinder?

No mechanical issue. I've researched YouTube & a lot of forums and found nothing about the problem. The car is running and I've got a new key w/ the correct resistance ordered... so I don't want to start looking for something that's not a problem.

If you bypassed the key resistor reader with the correct resistors matched to the original key, why did you order a new resistor key? 😕
