2005 3.4 l Buick Randezvous Rattle under the hood

The 2005 Buick in question started with a rattling engine noise and loss of power; engine did not overheat and or leak any fluids. Rattle noise heard on higher RPM but not heard on idle.
Previously, P0420 code for which nothing done due to running fine.

any ideas to look for greatly appreciated. Buick left me stranded and will tow tomorrow. I would appreciate any guiding advice to start my search for problem. I have to admit I fear the worse and engine swap not out of the question. Buick has 124,000 miles under its wing w/ front wheel drive.

already thinking spun bearing?? drain the oil check for metal fragments, pull the oil pan and check for looseness on the rods

I know head gaskets arw notoriously bad on these ..... but are timing components week and need to be replaced pass 100k.....???? Maybe i will tear the engine to do that if i got time in these 4 weeks i have it...
