I’m having trouble finding the correct power steering fluid for my 2010 LaCrosse. The owners manual gives a GM part number, but not quite sure what my options are. Synthetic vs. conventional? Wondering about draining and refilling, as the car is now going on 13 years old.

Any auto parts store carries PS fluid. You can try a fluid extractor to remove some of the old fluid.

Thanks, yes, I kinda knew that, but the manual is pretty specific about the GM part number without saying what it is, plus there is a TSB about using a different fluid for operation in very cold weather. This is a low-mileage car and I have no intention of dumping in the first thing I find that means the specs, even if I knew what those specs were and I don’t. My question is more about what the specs are and if now, 13 years later, is there something better?

Pretty much off the subject here, as far as LaCrosse goes anyway.

I have an older Ford (if you consider '59 older). Needed some power steering fluid to bring the level up to where it belongs. Without giving it much thought, I topped it off with a nice new bottle of modern 'universal' power steering fluid. (I completely forgot that the book calls for 'Type F' tranny fluid.) The new stuff blew all the seals pretty much instantly.

So... I don't blame you for wanting to fill it with the correct stuff!
