2012 Base model, no cold air intake option??

Hello, I have bought a 2012 Regal base model, its good on gas, but if you are going to move from V6 to 4 cylinder, make sure its a turbo at least. Is it really true I cant get a cold air intake put on for some reason? A guy at the part store told me that its only applicable for the GS and turbo model.. I need any more pick up if possible.
