2012 GS TPMS Question

Hey guys, I'm pretty new here. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue to mine.

I have a 2012 Regal GS manual transmission with the 20" factory wheels. Since the day I purchased the car, the passenger rear tire monitor has always been faulty. I had it replaced 3 times under warranty and it the light always turns on and off in my dash cluster. When the light is on, it is because the vehicle cannot receive the tire pressure from the sensor.

Last winter was the first with this car, so I picked up some nice winter tires and 18" wheels with all new TPM sensors. I didn't have this problem at all during the winter. The sensors always worked properly. I find this odd.

Last week I took the vehicle to the same tire shop I bought the winter set up from and had them put an identical sensor in the one passenger rear 20" summer tire as the winter set up thinking it was possibly a better brand or better wireless connection. 15 mins after I left the shop, the same thing happened. The light came on in the cluster and it registers -- instead of a tire pressure.

I am absolutely convinced that it is not the device in the tire. Has anyone had this problem or know of a potential fix? Is it possible that this is temperature related? I don't think it is because it was pretty cool when I put the summer tires back on, and it was happening right away.

My right rear TPMS always reads 1-2 psi lower than the other three even when I set pressures with a hand held gauge. I assume its because the right rear is the farthest away from whatever module reads the sensor. Could that be the problem? Distance?

Yeah napacruzergs, I was told that this tire is furthest from the receiver at the dealership. You would think it would be designed to function properly though.

Anyone else have weird problems with this specific tire sensor?

I have had the same exact problem with mine since I bought it in january. There is a hidden tsb out there for the "Legless Entry Remote Door lock module" affecting certain vehicles in 2012. I've called 3 different Buick dealers and none can find the tsb. Next time you go tell them that they should look into replacing it. Dose your key fob have terrible range, especially from the right rear? That's one symptom of that module, and also R/R tpms issues.

If your remote has terrible range in addition to TPMS problems, check your rear antenna for the lock module. Front antenna located under plastic in rear view mirror mount, key learn antenna located under cup holder (pull the rubber out, you'll see a cubbey shaped like a key), and the rear antenna is located behind the rear seats. Pull the trunk floor carpet all the way out, then back behind the rear drivers seat you'll see a long skinny module with two or three wires going to it. That's your low frequency RF antenna for the TPMS and passive entry. Replace that and or make sure it is not fallen off its mount and buried under metal (thus blocking/hindering reception).

None of this addresses why it happens on the summer tires but not the winter ones. I am at a loss.

Hey all, I changed the RF antenna behind the rear seats and the problem has NOT been fixed. FOB still has bad reception in the rear passenger area as well. Any idea what I should try next?
