2012 Regal Wipers Stopped Working in Rain

Just brought by certified preowned 2012 Regal with 12932 miles home yesterday. A few hours after picking it up it started to rain hard. The wipers worked until a mile from my home then stopped completely. About 1/2 mile later they made one swipe and then nothing. The only way we could make them swipe was by lifting one of the wipers. It then cycled a few times and then stopped again. Any ideas? It is heading back to the dealer first thing Monday morning - if it's not raining! 😕
