Hi, my 2013 lacrosse has tight steering, says service PS. I believe it is electric. The codes that popped up are for ABS sensor, the cord was replaced so now I am down to the core sensor. Would this affect the power steering too? I’m so confused. Also 2 codes popped for transmission sensor as well. 1/4 codes are fixed. C0050, P0989, p0877 -

I get that message occasionally, and that's how I discovered the PS is electric. I went looking for the PS pump to add some fluid and there isn't one. That said, the PS has never failed to function correctly.

Not completely clear on what you're trying to describe but I'll take a stab anyway.

How old is the battery? Sometimes a dying battery is at the root of multiple electrical problems. The P0877 and P0989 are electrical transmission control problems that should have little to do with the P0050.

P0050 is a problem with the right rear speed sensor circuit, which is sometimes traced to a bad wiring harness. Is this the "cord" of which you speak? Sometimes it's just dirt in the sensor. Sometimes they'll tell you it needs a new wheel bearing with integral speed sensor, without checking the wiring or for dirt in the sensor.

GM has done some major recalls on electric power steering. It's a great system, but they've had batches of bad motors. Turns out sudden steering failures leading to death is bad for business, so if you squawk enough, you may be able to get a $0 repair. But a bad battery doesn't help electric power steering, either.
