Buick Ownership
Verano
I own a 2015 Verano. I am having problems with the Stability Trac light coming on and off. My car has shut down while waiting at the traffic light. Sometimes my car will not start or takes many tries to get the car to start after being parked.
I took my car to the dealership, several different times. They are telling me they can’t find the problem. One trip to the service department, they changed crankshaft position sensor, and it didn’t fix the problem. They told me to pick up my car! It’s still shutting down. They can’t help me because the light will not stay on.
I am so frustrated!

Do you ever get a check engine light?

Yes. It doesn’t stay on. Since the message or the check engine light will not stay on, the dealership said they cannot find the problem.

Did you ask the dealer if they checked code history?

The light just came on while I was driving. The car was a little hesitant in moving. I am really getting tired of dealing with this light. I really don’t want to buy a new car but I may have to and it will NOT be GMC product.

I am sure my husband asked. I showed them a picture of what my diagnostic tool gave me for a history. The service tech just looked at it my picture. He said they couldn’t get anything. I find that hard to believe when my tool pulled up codes in the history.

It pulled up codes in the ABS/Stabilitrak system or only the ECM?
You need a scan tool capable of reading ABS/Stabilitrak codes.

Shouldn’t they do that? I would hope they have the proper equipment. I have taken my car to the dealership several times in the past month.

Was the Stabilitrak message on when the dealer had the car?
Autozone can read some codes if the light for Stabilitrak is on.

Yes it was on. The dealership told me they couldn’t pull the history. It goes on and off. For example the check engine light and Stability Trac came on Friday around noon. It stayed on until Sunday. Monday morning when I cranked my car, it was off.

If it's on, try Autozone or any shop willing to look at it while the light is on
